((I suppose I'll just use my character from ZU.))
Name: Aden
Age: 19
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Hair: Jet black, in the front long enough but not thick enough to cover his eyes, spiked in the back.
Eyes: A chillingly icy blue.
Weight: 149 lbs.
Height: 5'10"
Weapons: Aden?s main weapon is a silver katana, 41 inches in total length with a 32 inch blade. The handle is wrapped tightly in a scarlet ribbon, and there is an inscription on the blade, unreadable due to wearing away. But Aden has learned that the inscription protects the blade?s strength, as it is very hard (but not impossible) to break.
He also carries around a sharp dagger, in case something happens to his sword or he doesn?t have time to unsheathe it. It is very average, and has a black handle. Along with his dagger and katana, Aden carries a small crossbow in his backpack. He rarely uses it, and when he does, it?s only to hurt enemies from a distance.
Armor: His only armor is a light set that he always wears: a steel breastplate, black metal arm guards, and thigh and shin guards. It can protect against almost all moderate and some heavy physical blows, and fares well against water and ice type magic. Unfortunately, it does not cover his entire body, leaving much of his backside and parts of his front exposed to attacks.
Strengths: One of Aden?s greatest strengths lies in his ability to attack physically. He specializes in techniques of the sword, and is also quite skilled at hand-to-hand combat, having mastered several martial arts. He has quick reflexes, and can see most attacks coming before they strike. Aden is also a very determined fighter, and will ignore any wounds that aren?t serious in order to keep fighting. His logic in battle is useful for creating quick strategies against his enemies.
Weaknesses: Even though Aden managed to learn four spells, he is a beginner at magic and quite inept at it, as well as ranged fighting. He sometimes has trouble concentrating on what he wants to do, resulting in failed attacks. His armor mostly protects his front side, so his backside and still parts of the front are exposed and vulnerable to attacks. Even though his reflexes allow him to see attacks quickly, he usually doesn?t have the speed to dodge or counter them, just to find a way to defend himself. Aden also would do anything for those close to him, so he can easily be led into a trap through a kidnapped friend.
Skills/Magic: Aden has mastered four basic spells:
FIRE: At first, casting this spell required reciting ?Eleka Rahtum Deliphyos.? But now, Aden can simply concentrate on what he wants to do to activate it. This technique shoots a quarter-sized blast of fire from the palm of his hand that evolves into three tendrils of flame as it goes outward. It has a range of roughly 25 feet.
WIND: By thinking the word ?Kallos? to himself, Aden can cast a strong gust of wind at his opponents. It is powerful enough to knock most warriors off their feet. The direction and power of the wind is controlled by the movement of his arm; a simple forward thrust will create a minimal blast, while pulling his arm backwards and seemingly gathering power from the air creates a much more powerful blast.
WATER: If Aden is near water, he can make it rise in the air and control it against his opponents. This is done by concentrating very hard on what he wants the water to do and where he wants it to go. Unfortunately, this technique does not produce water, and can only be used when there is water nearby. He can control up to ten gallons of water.
SHIELD: When Aden is in grave danger can?t escape an attack, he uses this spell to create a shield of magic around him. If he says ?Lyrkta?, then he is surrounded by a purple bubble of magic. The shield can deflect almost any physical attack, fire magic, and psychic powers. But it depletes a lot of energy and strength from Aden, so it can only be used once in battle.
Appearance: Aden wears a set of light armor, to protect him from basic physical attacks. He wears a steel breastplate under a navy blue button-down t-shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to just above the elbows. His forearms are protected by black metal guards, and his sword is slung over his back when not in use. He also carries a backpack with a strap across one shoulder to carry supplies and food. A deep red bandana is tied securely around his neck.
Aden wears a pair of khaki cargo pants, with steel protectors tied to his thighs and shins. His black hair gets in his face, but his blue eyes are always clearly visible, along with his slightly angular features and a scar running from his left ear to his chin. His skin is semi-pale. Usually the expression on his face is blank, but during battle it can change circumstantially. Overall, he has a pretty slender yet muscular body type.
Personality: He is generally a pretty quiet person. When approached, Aden will just examine the stranger until he or she speaks. If he is attacked randomly, he will defend himself, but only fight back enough to keep the attacker at bay. He prefers not to kill others, but instead put enemies in a position where they cannot fight back and have no choice but to surrender.
If one takes the time to get to know Aden, he will become much more open and seem less cold-hearted. He can?t stand the thought of the people close to him being hurt, and he would do anything to protect the ones he loves, even die. He is a determined fighter, and will not give up easily, but still a wise fighter, and will give up when facing undeniable defeat.
Aden is very reluctant when it comes to love or romance, because of his withdrawn personality. He is afraid to get too close to someone and end up getting hurt. The most likely way for him to ever fall in love would be through a friend he is very close to and cares for very much. But even then, his fears may overcome his desire and keep him single for a while.
Aden has a sense of humor, but he usually keeps it to himself. He doesn?t appreciate crude humor, and will only laugh at something truly clever and witty.
Biography: Aden was born in a comfortable suburb just outside of a large urban area. He had always lived a peaceful life, with one older brother, Sawyer, and two healthy parents. Aden?s brother was the family troublemaker, but he was always looking out for his brother. No matter how much he messed with Aden, any observer could see the bond between them. Aden always had many friends, mostly because of his cheerful and outgoing personality. His eyes were a bright, inviting sky blue.
But as Sawyer got older, he began to get involved in the deep city crime scene, developing enemies over time. Aden always feared for his brother, but could never convince him that he was in the wrong.
One night, Aden came home to find his home dark. Curious, he entered and searched for a light switch. Darn. Power?s out. As he tried to find his way in the darkness, he nearly tripped over something. Squinting, he stooped to see the relatively large object on the floor. It felt like a body. A shocking chill crept up his spine as he rolled it over, the moonlight revealing the body?s identity: his mother. Aden?s eyes welled up with disbelief as his breath left him. He stumbled backwards, hardly able to keep his balance in his current panic.
Aden?s head jerked to the right at the sound of voices. Intruders. Murderers. He ran blindly in their direction in a haze of emotions. Finally reaching the room, he was taken aback at the sight of Sawyer?s limp body being held at the collar by one of his enemies. Aden managed to recognize him as one of Sawyer?s former colleagues. The young man released Sawyer and stepped towards Aden, unsheathing his bloody knife.
Aden stood frozen, barely able to hear the eery footsteps over his own heartbeat. Suddenly, a wave of rage overtook him, and he charged towards the stranger, screaming and blindly waving his fist. The man swiftly dodged and countered the poorly planned move, slicing Aden from the chin to right below his ear. Falling to the floor, Aden held his face in agony, crimson streams flowing through his fingers. He tried to stand up again and face his attacker, but the man simply kicked Aden in the stomach, knocking him out.
----------
After waking up, Aden fled to the countryside, finding refuge in a local master of combat. He still has yet to learn that his dad escaped that fateful night, and he still has a scar across his cheek. Over time, Aden and his combat trainer, Nicolas, became close, and Aden became more and more skilled in hand to hand combat as well as swordsmanship. When Aden turned fifteen, Nicolas gave him his own sword: an ancient katana with a scarlet handle and a worn inscription on the blade.
Aden continued to harness his skill with the blade as he got older, and each training session took him farther from Nicolas?s home. One morning, he stumbled across a worn-down shack. Interested, he wandered inside to see if there was anything of use. The walls were lined with shelves, each one stocked with glass bottles with mysterious contents. His eyes searched the dark, worn-down room carefully, until they stopped on a large book.
Brushing the dust off of it, Aden tried to examine the cover in the dim light. The title appeared to be in a language unknown to him. Upon opening it, he discovered it wasn?t of much use; many of the pages were ripped out or torn, and much of what was left was impossible to read due to the faded ink. But Aden was determined to learn something from the book. It left him with a mysterious feeling that he wanted to capture.
He flipped through the endless pages until he found a page with readable writing. He did not know what he was reading, but he stared intently at a tree and read aloud: ?Eleka Rahtum Deliphyos!? Immediately, the tree was set ablaze. Shocked, he dug a small hole and buried the deadly book near the wall of the shack. Aden ran back to Nicolas?s home to end the day?s training session and get some food.
After discovery of the magic book, he took caution in his reading, and returned to the shack every day to practice. After learning and mastering four spells, he decided it was only fair to enlighten Nicolas. But by the time the two of them reached the spot of the shack, there was nothing there. A mere field. Nicolas said it was just Aden?s imagination, but Aden thought otherwise, and tried to convince him that there really was once something there.
After that day, Aden left Nicolas to begin his journey: one to build his strength, discover the truth, and avenge his family.
