As a kid I was religiously devoted to get up at 5 am on weekends and turn on the Tv for the morning cartoons. Saturdays had this TV show about videogames, some segments answering questions on how to pass a level. That's when I saw this video game that was like a Fairytale. He freed some guys from cells and fought some sort of amazon woman. It was cool.

Each Saturday I'd watch the show and learn more about the game. For my birthday my father would get me a gaming console. His friends were rooting for a Playstation One but I wanted this game so badly, and it was for the N64.

The big day arrived and my father took me to electronic store. He was trying to persuade me into the PS console. I bet he wished he had taken me elsewhere for they had a big TV advert for the game I wanted. The Fairytale of the princess scaping in a horse from a big Castle while a kid watches them go, just to be confronted by the evil man. It made me feel more sure than ever I wanted that game. Before going for the console I went for the game. My father tried to persuade me again saying I could buy it in the other console. I showed him the sticker in the box that said very clearly "Only for N64".

So yeah, i guess you could say :TLoZ:::OoT: made me buy a Nintendo 64.

I am not sure if I have a favourite type. I like many of different types. Fire is pretty cool but so is Ghost.
I am undecided, hahah.

Just googled ghost-fire pokemon. That was underwhelming.
I won't have a Chandelure unless it the rare one.

I never got too much into Tennis, but if I have someone to play with I will definitely get this title and annoy everybody playing as DAISY.

Yes! Nintendo noticed people having trouble and mixing names with the past generation. people asking for their GameStations or Playcubes. They said at some point in an interview this is why they choose Wii. It was a simple one word. People remembered it. It was the tend breaker among the PS2-PS3 and the XBox-XBox360. Then they throw it all out of the window, defeat the Wii name's purpose by naming the next console "Wii U". I was and still am baffled by that decision. Perhaps with the Wii success, they decided to imitate the competition. It seriously backfired.

I am just preparing my answer to LS's wind waker thread.

Part of me agrees with that. It is a fun holiday where you're able to have fun, get creative, receive some candy and pull a few good natured pranks. It is already well known all over the world. It is a fun memory.

In Mexico the issue with Halloween is that people are intertwining it with a celebration of our own: Day of the Dead. DotD is one of the few old traditions that have managed to survive with us for as long as it has and older generations feel like kids nowadays are just clueless about many aspects of our own celebrations in favour to wear costumes and go around the streets chanting block after block "Noche de brujas (Night of Witches): Halloween" hoping a house will open and give them some candy. I am fascinated with Day of the Dead but mostly because I lived so by the North of Mexico I couldn't witness a proper celebration outside of the school activities. Anyway, It is interesting the ideas in common and the ideas apart from both celebrations and I think it is only natural they end up mixed. DotD in itself is a blend of beliefs from past Natives and New Spain residents. The best we can do is to adapt to the times and find a way to incorporate the things we really want to keep with them.

I played it long long ago. I don't remember much of the details. I don't thinK I even managed to finish it.
Still I hear about it and I know the game immediately. That prologue will be embed in my head for as long as I live.

I don't think there is just one direct target to blame. The Videogame were in transition. Experimentation was necessary and as bad the bad games were they helped to realise what things sounded good in theory but were awful in execution and what things in general were just hindering the experience. When the NES came out, the idea of having a home console was still new and in many places arcade houses were still popular and active.

For the ones based in movies, a lot had to do with people not taking videogames seriously enough. It was just another excuse to advertise their stuff. Not enough time to polish a game and come up with something decent when the developers have a deadline that cannot be push to a later date. Many had to just shrug and finish what they could.

For the sport game, it is really had to turn a complex sport into a game simple to understand visually and in controls, that kept enough familiarity with the real thing and that was fun to play.

Well, it's been two weeks unemployed now. I resigned my past position and I am currently looking for a job. I am taking it easy though. Choosing what I apply for. Hopefully I will get a job before the eyar ends.

Thanks LS. your thread is the excuse I need to stay up till dawn. I've read it alla nd I want to give my take in some of your points. I also want to listen the podcast episode. I will do that, I just don't want you to think I a ignoring this after I requested it. It is pretty innteresting. I also want to see what other people think about it.
