Did you guys play it and it was awful, or is Kaynil alluding to a failing in your sex life?

It comes highly recommended from me. But, as stated in other threads, I'm an unapologetically rabid Dan Harmon fan. I'll shill for anything he makes.

What seemed a bit too much?

Big James Dashner and Jack London fan? I've never actually heard of any of these books. Do tell, why are they on your list?
As for myself, I've been meaning to read a history book called Rubicon about the life of Julius Caesar (I just can't get enough. =P), and I'd like to finish reading Athena's Daughters, because I like women and I like science fiction and I like supporting women who write science fiction.

It sounds pretty nice. Let us know how was that first serious shift.

It was kinda surprising. 20 minutes after I arrived to my first shift, the owner gave me the keys to the place and said he'd be back in 4 hours. I guess he was impressed by my work experience or something, but I was still kinda shocked by the level of trust.
Really though, the shift was pretty dull. There were only about 8 customers the whole time. I cleaned the whole place top-to-bottom, then I just kinda..paced around, waiting for my shift to end. Hopefully business picks up soon or I'm liable to die of boredom.
I presently work as an Alarm Monitor for a gas company, I sit in a chair for 8 hours and monitor alarms. It's a lot like the home security system companies you hear about and see commercials for all the time. 'Cept we're the security company that monitors gas stations of our company, if that makes sense?
I knew a guy who performed monitor checks for the gas company. It's supposed to be a pretty sweet gig, yeah?

I also didn't drink at all until I was older. I was 27 years old before I tasted any alcohol. I've discovered I have a pretty high tolerance for the stuff. I can empty a bottle of Bourbon and the worst I get is a mild headache the next day. (Though Vodka makes me feel miserable, no matter how little of it I drink. Cheap-ass Cabernets are my current alcohol of choice)
I did throw up after drinking once. But it's not because of the Alcohol. My girlfriend and I were having a quiet evening in. We were eating those cheap $1 frozen pizzas, and I was drinking beer. (Blue Moon is my beer of choice). Anyway, I wanted to get silly-drunk, but there wasn't very much alcohol in the beer. After finishing the whole six pack, I started to get really painful stomach cramps, then eventually had to throw up.
I figure the huge amount of carbonation in the beer is actually what made me sick. That, or the $1 pizzas.

Dreaming of a future economy that doesn't rely on ultimately unsustainable models of citizen productivity in an increasingly automated society.

I'm glad some people showed up who can actually relate to Link on this issue.
I was starting to feel bad about what a community of sadsacks we are.

RIGHT!?
I don't have a TV, so I won't be able to watch it live tonight. But I'll certainly be acquiring a copy of it by some means soon.

Aw. My burn failed.
Your whole post about growing out of the Kokiri Kid name seemed very "hardened." So I linked to the part of your video where you made fun of Max Payne for being hardened.

I suspect that most of my job will be standing around, exchanging bills for quarters, and taking money for food.
I'll be working my first real shift tonight.
I also got an email today about a new writing job. Sort of a freelancer pool. I still need to investigate that one. Hopefully some extra income comes outta that.

Well then, The Amazing Spider Man is better than the Toby McGuire Spider Man. And the X-Men movies have been pretty consistently good. I didn't hate the third one as much as everybody says I should have.
-
I assume we're talking "The MCU," which doesn't include the Spider Man or X-Men movies.
I'm terrible at picking favorites. The original Iron Man was great, but so was Iron Man 3. Iron Man 2 is a lot better than everyone says it is. Thor 2 was better than Thor 1. The Avengers is one of the most overrated movies ever, but Age of Ultron is pretty good. Both Captain America movies were great.
We need a Black Widow movie.

I mean, there are no rules, yo.
Clementine would probably get a pass from people who hate video game names, because it's also a real person name. It shortens to Chloe and Tina, right?

I got that job, by the by. I'm pretty sure I've said as much elsewhere at this point, but given that this thread ended on Kaynil wishing me luck, it seems only appropriate that I add an update.
I got the job. I did some training yesterday, and I work my first real shift tomorrow. It's a small arcade. My actual job won't be anything too exciting, but the atmosphere is laid back with some opportunity for growth. Here's hoping it's enough to help smooth out some of my financial difficulties.

I know everyone has a big ol' boner for SMB3, but I think Super Mario World might be the best Mario game.

It's really true. Blizzard isn't running a game, quite so much as they're running a $15/month friendship service. The amount of hours I logged in that game just sitting around doing nothing while I chatted with my friends are countless.
Of course, the downside is that most of the connections I made through the game never successfully made the leap outside the game. When we played together for hours every day, it never seemed relevant to trade email addresses or social media connections. So most of those friendships have been lost. Though I did meet my girlfriend in Stormwind City, and now we live together. So there's that.

The frustrating thing is that I think there's a legitimate discussion to be had about cultural appropriation of the 'nerd community.' But the discussion got all fucked up because a bunch of losers decided to make the discussion about women, rather than about their frustration with their niche being absorbed by mainstream culture.
Of course, even the legitimate discussion seems a little frivolous to me. An academic curiosity, but not a real harm to anyone.
