Yes, some of you diehard retro gamers may remember that the original 'Halo' game was actually on the Nintendo Entertainment System and was a registered copyright of Nintendo R&D1. However the game got abismal sales and was lost in Nintendo's back catalogues of their poorer products - several million unsold copies of 'Zombies Ate my Neighbours' are also rumored to line these not-so-hallowed halls of Nintendo's main offices in Japan.

A certain Mr. Fred Gamelot stumbled across this stark reminder being one of the few people to play the game. He claimed to have been "shocked" yet "pleased" to find that such a great "gaming title had original been made by Nintendo" and felt "ashamed to think that he had believed that a company of Microsoft's standards" had invented such "novel gaming".

Here we can see a reference image of the original cartridge that Fred found whilst cleaning out what he described as an "everyday dirt mess in an urban ghetto"

Mr. Gamelot has been in contact with Nintendo of America over this blatant breach of both trademarked name, and gameplay style, the original 'Halo' was dubbed to be a "fine top-down-shooter, innovative game that brings whole new levels of violence into the home, graphically, it can't get much better than this" by an independent games magazine.

NoA have still yet to release an official press statement, but it seems highly likely that a court case could be go - another item to stand alongside Nintendo's impressive legal history of shutting down porn sites because they may offend Nintendo product consumers, closing down established sites in fear that they might one day sell up shop and cash in on Nintendo trademarks, attacking piracy in China - causing a mental nightmare for all of China's up and coming script kiddies.

Indeed, what a revelation in gaming this has turned out to be. We look forward to seeing Nintedo's response to how they forgot about this title and how an "emo" child from a sub-urban gangbang may be charging them a hefty commission for his findings.

Note: This is touchy shit. Feel free to participate in this discussion, but don't be reactionary. If you're angry while you're typing, or if you're thinking about how sick your burns are going to be, then you should probably take a break and come back. We're all friends here.

Also Note: This is a conversation. If you post in this thread, you are inviting people to ask questions, and make counterarguments. They should do so while respecting your humanity, and hopefully you will be willing to give answer to their questions and arguments.

I'm curious to know the metaphysical beliefs of the Zelda Cavern community. What do you believe, why do you believe it, how do you stand in relation to the community of those who believe similar things?

I'm a hard atheist and skeptic. I assert that there is no entity which would meet any reasonable definition of divinity. I have also, on occasion, referred to myself as an anti-theist. I do believe that the concept of 'faith,' and the religions which are built on that concept, do more harm than they do good. However, I also believe that most of the time, asserting that belief similarly does more harm than good. I am perfectly happy to be friends with anyone who doesn't make their religion other people's problem. (My lifelong friendship with
@kilovh, an ordained Rabbi, attests to that).

I do believe that, on a whole, atheists are treated unjustly in America. Five years ago I was actively involved in atheist communities and slacktivisim. Unfortunately, while the "New Atheism" movement seemed to have a promising start, it began to attract the wrong sort of crowd. Sexists, libertarians, pedants. There are good people in there, but the movement as a whole is distasteful to me. I'd prefer to focus on more pressing issues (poverty, transphobia, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.), and let the prejudice that exists against atheists fade away naturally with time.

I will elaborate on anything you're curious about, and I will answer any questions you have. Lets talk.

^ Is some kind of teenaged rebel. But what could he be rebelling against?!
< Used to be a teenaged rebel. I hid D&D books in my room.
< Is not a steak fanatic.
V Also used to be a teenaged rebel.

Sweet. Alright, well I work a lot (way too much) and play video games when I'm not busy doing family shtuff. Also am 420 friendly...if that ever even comes up.

I'm disappointed in you. Please seek help.

(F'reals though, we got a thread for good drug stories if you've got any.)

That information is classified by the government. Just kidding, but I really don't know what we are going to set up as far as events in the future go. We could get the community involved in Cards Against Humanity again if we wanted, but I think some of us may want to do something different next time. I have no idea, so we'll just have to wait and see for further updates.

I will totes run Dungeons and Dragons if people want to do that. We could also figure out if we share any multiplayer PC games and arrange times to play those.

Well, you're always going to be disappointed if you look to AAA companies for quality games. Video games used to be a niche business where passionate adults tried to engage with nerdy kids. Now it's a big business, where rich adults try to engage with focus groups.

As to the video, it makes a good point. The fact that the game is so short also plays a big role in its replayability. Even a very poor player will either run out of lives, or beat the game within an hour of beginning to play. So taking another crack at the game never feels like a big investment, which encourages the player to try different things.

I was actually thinking about this recently: why do water areas still exist in games?

Everybody hates them. They're awful. The only good one I can think of is the one in LttP, and that one isn't even a proper water level. You're only actually swimming about 5% of the time.

Same goes for ice levels, actually.

I haven't played any of the mario galaxy games either, and I never got to play any of the Paper Mario games after the first one on the N64.

I think I actually have a copy of the first Mario Galaxy in my living room. I oughta try it.

I've never really thought about that.

I suppose I used to get a lot more excited about Real Time Strategy games back in the day. And I guess I really don't like RPGs as much as I once did. I don't think I've played a new JRPG in years, and the only western RPGs that I really engage with are the Fallout games I think.

The girl in the red spandex always annoyed me. Like...c'mon guys. There are limits.

Are there people who don't know about porn? Is there some poor soul out there who spends all their money on video games with saucy ladies in them, never knowing that all he need do is google "boob?"

I suppose having your parents separated at least gives you some mobility. You're not stuck in a single location. I'm terrible at this, though. My tactic was mostly to just keep my head down and wait until I grew up and could be a real person. Which is really no way to live.

Offering to help them move was probably the right choice. As a general rule, I always like to be the nicer party. If someone's a jerk to you, and you're a jerk back, then you're both jerks. If you take a deep breath and treat the other person well, then you're still a good person. Them being a jerk is their problem.

Interesting, does Loteria require you to be familiar with the Spanish language?

What about Chess? Anybody play much chess? I play a fair amount, but I'm pretty bad at it overall.

There are no judgements in the dark.

Normal people are asleep, and those who aren't keep quiet. There's no chores to do or errands to take care of--you can't do those things at night. You don't have to feel bad about wasting time, because after you sleep you'll wake up and begin a new day.

Staying up late is alluring because of that, I think.
