So... the game finally has screens.
Odd to see Bowser running in that line, though. Eh.

Something told me it would be an Assist Trophy... I had a dream that Lip was going to be a playable character.
Assist Trophy: DR. WRIGHT
Don't recognize this guy? Take a look at your Trophy collection in Super Smash Bros. Melee...
I'm not exactly thrilled with this update... but at least it was an Assist Trophy, and shows that just about anyone from the Nintendo universe can show up in this game in a cameo.

An interesting read, and strangely inspiring.
Honestly, that would suck to be in the position he's in. Talk about tough love.
Keep it going. It gives a little more background to Avinash's shady character. This actually helped explain a few things on his actions in Aronath's tournament topic.
Indeed...
For this, I think I'd rather "mash" my buttons, rather than hold them. You get hit interrupted by an attack (whether close range or far), and you have those split-seconds that really count, and your finger is still holding "A" for constant combo (depending on who you are). I'd... rather not take the chance of being interrupted, and have to released and press A again, only to have the pattern repeat itself. With A-mashing, you can pull yourself out of the sequence and counterattack more quickly, though your combo (if like Fox's or Link's sword jabbing) can be shortened if you so much as miss a button-mash by a second.
Anybody's choice, this would be mine still... I've used it since Smash Bros., why would I change it now? I'd test it, but that's... probably about it.
Hmm. I've forgotten the significants of names... That was fairly interesting.
Hehe, fair-haired...
Wow, nice sig and avy combo. It's easy to see why everyone likes them.

Amazing series. I'm not sure how Alvin-Earthworm does it, but it is truly a remarkable milestone in flash animation with sprites.
I've seen this series since Super Mario Bros Z first came out... and I was completely stunned by the action sequences. They're evened out throughout the movies, and you are never bored for a minute. The dialogue has its own scenes, and they're lengthened or shortened, so you're never saying "C'mon, get with the action already!" Even the speeches have their own humor in them...
From what I saw from his entries, he "still has a long way to go" before this series is over, and I also heard that after this one, he may start on a new series with a whole new set of characters, called Super Smash Bros Z...
This series DESERVES a 10/10. And even that is a true understatement of its greatness.
I'm into the games, definately, and the newer series Diamond & Pearl. Actually has a similar flavor to the very 1st season of the Pkmn anime, which is good.
As for the cards, I don't really collect anymore... I would always get shiny cards of danged 1st evolutions or item cards, and I grew sick of that.
For the games, I have Diamond (one bro and sis have Pearl, other bro has Diamond), FireRed (one of my bros has LeafGreen, other has FireRed), Emerald (sis also has one), Red, Blue (sis has Yellow), Silver (one bro has Gold, one other bro has Silver, and sis Crystal), Colosseum, XD Gale of Darkness, and PBR.

Actually, a date has not been given. Nintendo is just working on a TP sequel for the Wii. I actually think it won't come out until 2009.
Wholly smokes, they're already working on a TP sequel?? I missed that one...
3 days till E3, so I hear... 2 days till Monday and new update.
Quote from Shrukan
If they have two coming out, I'll s*** myself.
Hmm, that would be something indeed.
There's still E3, too. Hopefully Sakurai will reveal a newcomer during that, and some newer footage... Possibly the opening, some new stages, items, and whatnot.
I can't wait to see him update his Dojo site with Arceus.
Hmm... This is a tough choice. I'm torn between Power, Courage and Wisdom.
...That's not any help. Hmmm... I've always enjoyed Power. But, having the Courage to fight for what's right is good, too. And having some Wisdom, I could rid the world of those annoying cases.
Maybe I'd go for Wisdom. That's a big "maybe." At least with Wisdom, I could win every argument. I'd become a good lawyer.
Ahh, I'd be Volvagia, from Ocarina of Time! Who wouldn't want to be a fire-dragon with flying abilities?
Oh, wait, insn't Volvagia a "she"? Blast it...
My other option would be Molgera from Wind Waker. Another flyer, just not a dragon. But still.
Lastly, maybe Ganondorf. Maybe. I thought he was kick- on Wind Waker with two blades.
SCOTLAND!!
...Sorry. Just had the urge to yell it out. XD

Wow, I lost count of my post count around 30. Where does the time fly? ^o^
I think I can honestly say that this is one of the very few forums where I've actually reached close to a hundred... including mine, and VGDC. Yessir. And one of the few I'm most active in... including mine, excluding VGDC. Yessir.
Yeah... One of the main reasons I stopped going was because Stranded was taking so many twists and turns... I just couldn't keep up. That was the main reason I went there, so to unleash my writer's spirit on a revived Stranded. Meh. It's always good to dock an old ship and ride a new one.

As Evice sat in his jail cell, wearing his custom black-and-white jail uniform, one of the guards passed by him, holding a key. Evice, staring at the ground, watched the officer in his peripheral vision.
?It?s probably another report of more workers arrested,? Evice scowled to himself in his mind. ?I don?t need daily reports to tell me I?ve failed.?
The guard opened the cell cautiously and spoke as he did so. ?You have a visitor.?
Evice lifted his head slightly. ?A visitor? But? who could it be? It?s probably that thickheaded Chief Sherles again. He has pestered me every other day since I have been here. It?s about time for his due date again??
?Your ?guest? will meet you in here, by special invitation,? the officer continued, motioning the visitor with his hand from down the hall. ?Don?t start any trouble.?
Evice watched as the visitor turned the corner to his cell? and was shocked to see whom this guest was.
?Hello, Evice. It?s been a while, hasn?t it??
It was a young man with white hair and a blue trench coat. His shades were covering his eyes, but he took them off casually, calmly. The man took a seat on a bed opposite of Evice, sitting slightly hunched. Evice glared at him, but did nothing.
?What do you want, you?? Evice asked.
The man chuckled. ?It?s nothing, really. I just felt like talking.?
?Get on with it. I?m in no mood for anyone, especially the likes of you.?
?I see. All right, then, I?ll get straight to the point: How did one of your creatures escape? I always thought you were smarter than that.?
Evice moaned. ?It?s none of your concern if I knew or not.?
?So, then, you don?t know.?
Evice remained silent.
?Hmm? Yes? If it would comfort you?? The man leaned a little closer, whispering. ??I could tell you who did it.?
Evice?s eyes widened in surprise. He fixed his eyes on the man for a moment, not saying anything for a time. ??Why are you telling me this??
The man shrugged. ?I?m sure you?ve heard of a guilty conscience, right??
?Yes, but what does that have to do with this?!? Evice scowled.
?Well, let?s just say that? ah? I had a little insight on this operation.? He paused, then nodded his head. ?It?s strange how one phone call can change things? right??
Evice?s gaping mouth made the man chuckle in pleasure. ?And it?s very good to know how to get through an enemy?s defenses, unheard and unseen, and, ah? let something? slip from the factory.?
The man stood up. Now Evice understood perfectly. His faced turned a deep red in anger.
?Y?YOU!?
The white haired man smirked. Then he started to walk out.
?Y-YOU! GET BACK HERE OR I?LL?!!?
The guard slammed the cell door shut as the man exited and Evice had jumped up to strangle him. ?G-GET BACK HERE NOW!!? Evice?s voice echoed off the walls of the prison. He started foaming at the mouth in rage. ?HOW DID YOU KNOW!? TELL ME!! YOU PIECE OF TRASH, I?LL GET YOU, I?LL GET YOU!!?
Evice was still screaming as the man left the prison.
Outside, the man pulled out his keys. Straying away into the parking lot, he walked towards a lone, large machine. It almost looked like a mammoth motorcycle. He pushed the key in the ignition and cranked it on. As he did, he spoke:
?Thank you for this. I can now rest in peace, knowing my nemesis is in jail for good?? He seemed to speak to no one. But it wasn?t so. A humanoid creature appeared out of nowhere before him, coming out of an invisibility state. The creature, tinted a slight purple-and-gray, stood about six feet. It had skinny arms with three ball-like fingers on each hand, and some sort of tube on the back of its head connecting to the base of the back of its neck. It had a thick, lavender-colored tail and two ?plates? on its breast. The narrow face smiled, and its eyes gleamed. It spoke without moving its mouth.
<No, thank you. I would not have been able to put a stop to his plans without your assistance.>
The white haired man smiled at the creature. ?Since this is over, why don?t you head back to Kanto??
The creature shook its head. <No, not yet. When the factory had been destroyed, something survived but I don?t know what. I will search a little while longer before I head back? home.>
?Ah, I see? Speaking of which, how did you end up here? Traveling from Kanto to Orre is definitely a long journey. And the factory? How did you find it??
The creature chuckled telepathically. <When you have the powers of levitation and psychic abilities at your disposal, you can go just about anywhere. As for the factory? Because Evice had taken a sample of my blood, I was able to pinpoint my own DNA from afar and locate their factory. And when Evice was on trial, I was sure to give directions to your police via technology? I used one of your phones, and called them.>
?I had been wondering about that,? the man replied. He paused for a moment. ??Why did you choose me??
The creature closed its eyes in thought and spoke. <I?m sure you have had this feeling before? that whenever you require assistance, you can gain the help of someone just by the way they act, and by how determined they look. When I saw you, I knew instantly that you were perfect, and I don?t think my psychic powers had anything to do with it.>
The man nodded, understanding.
The two didn?t say anything for a few seconds, just absorbing what they had said to one another.
??Well, I?d better be off,? the man said. ?My wife is expecting me. I truly appreciate everything you have done for me, and I hope we will meet again someday. Good-bye?? The man extended his hand towards the creature. ??Mewtwo.?
Mewtwo smiled and grasped the hand with his own. They shook once, then released. <Good-bye to you, too, friend. May we cross paths again.>
And with that, there was a flash of bright light? and Mewtwo had gone. The man got onto his motorcycle, saying a little prayer in his heart, that Mewtwo be safe on his search.
With the twist of a handle and the push of a pedal, the man was off, his vehicle roaring down the desert, back home.
END OF PART 2
After about a year of slacking off on this project, I finally picked up where I left off. The story is nearing its end, but it's still far from over.
Just to note, when I rewrote this story just a day or three back, I tried to retain the original script from it... I've done slight modifications for this rough-final draft, so that's why this may appear... rough. I haven't fully revised it. But I'm leaving it as is for the time being.
Hope you enjoy part 2.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brief A/N: Thank you, reader, for stopping by to read my work.
This story, ?Fall of the Hybrids?, is Part Two of a series called the ?Hybrid Chronicles.? Keep in mind some things in this story for future events in the others?
This miniature fanfic was made because I had a younger sibling show me a Mew on ?Pok?mon Emerald?, sitting all alone on Faraway Island. And then, when it was captured, it had a Lonely nature, thus that got me thinking and inspired me to make this story on how that Mew possibly ended up there and a few other details. As it turned out, those ?few other details? turned into one massive story, which I couldn?t help but write.
Now, enjoy?
PART II
FALL OF THE HYBRIDS
?After much contemplation, we, the jury of Orre, find the defendant, ex-mayor of Phenac City and second-in-command to Greevil, guilty for unauthorized and illegal production of hybrid creatures.?
Evice, standing before a jury in court, glares at the ground, handcuffed once again. This hasn?t been the first time he?s been in court. But it will most certainly be his last. His reasons for being here were simple: he had created a factory, which manufactured ?hybrid? Pok?mon. It was an undercover operation that was never supposed to pass the lips of any employee. Evice had been scheming this since his days in prison for the making of ?Shadow Pok?mon,? Pok?mon whose hearts are sealed shut and become nearly immune to the compassion of others, even going so far as to attack their own trainers. Back in the days where he was at his prime, Evice was outranked and ruled over by his boss, Greevil, and he never so much as uttered a word of him so to contain the secrecy of any higher ranked employees, for fear of such information being discovered would have curious trainers and police probing through to find them.
As he was doing his time, Evice?s good behavior was noted, and he was released early (to the dismay of many trainers). Now, it seemed that no matter what he pulled off, he would certainly be looking through metal bars for a long, long time.
?Because of the new overwhelming evidence,? the judge continues, using her opened hand to point at a photo stand, where the picture of a mutant Pok?mon stood on display (the same mutant creature caught and killed by a sailor named Briney, as mentioned by the judge), ?you, Evice, have been sentenced? to life in prison without parole. Your market will be shut down permanently, and as for your factory, it will be destroyed, and those who are working for you will be sent to jail. The jury is dismissed, this case is closed. Have a good day.?
Just as the judge brings down her mallet for a harsh knock, a guard in the back of the room near the exit yells out ?All rise,? and everyone in the courtroom stands. Chief Sherles, the commanding officer in Pyrite Town, and his trusty assistant Officer Johnson escort Evice out of the room. As they do, Evice takes one last glance into the sea of people here for his judgment? and, out of all of them, a familiar face stares back at him.
It?s a young man. He stands with a redheaded young lady, who holds his hand. The man has white hair and gleaming golden-brown eyes. He has biker-looking shades resting comfortably near the top of his head, just above his forehead, and he wears a lengthy blue trench coat. Although the man?s appearance has blended in dramatically since he was once a member of Team Snagem and under the iron fisted rule of Gonzap, Evice recognized him immediately, as well as the woman beside him. The man doesn?t smile back, and only continues to keep an eye on his old nemesis as he exits the room. Before Evice leaves, however, he mutters something under his breath to the man, supposedly cursing him and blaming him for what has happened.
And then Evice is gone.
The red-haired young woman notices her husband still staring at the door, even with Evice gone and the court slowly clearing out. She clings to his arm and wakes him from his hypnotic state. He looks at her worried face. He smiles, then kisses her forehead. She, too, smiles. Holding hands, they exit, leaving behind them the memory of the white haired man?s dreadful past, and Evice, once and for all.
* * *
?Evice was found guilty! We have to speed this up, boys!? A tall muscleman, wearing a white uniform and a serious face, stands on a platform high above a very large room. On the floor, bustling workers ? all of them brilliant but corrupted scientists ? were each doing their duties: creating hybrids. One of those men, a man whom many assumed was a little off his rocker, was nearing the completion of something? new.
Recently, before his arrest, Evice had gone to the land of Kanto to speak with Giovanni, the Viridian City gym leader and ex-leader of Team Rocket. Evice had asked him about the whereabouts of a Pok?mon dubbed ?Mewtwo.? Giovanni explained that he had been tracking it, but has been unsuccessful. After some negotiation, Evice left? but not before searching for Mewtwo himself.
It wasn?t long before Evice found it? or rather, it found him. For some reason, Mewtwo donated its own DNA and took off, leaving behind an overjoyed Evice? These strange intentions of Mewtwo were soon to be learned, but not by Evice.
?C?mon, what are you all? Faster, go! Go! They've already taken out the Market!? the muscleman scowled below to his subordinates.
The second-in-command?s name was Gates. He had exceptional leadership skills, and remained faithful to the Shadow Pok?mon manufacturing even after the imprisonment of Greevil. His only flaw was that whenever he had problems controlling his anger, he would act reckless. He was definitely not someone to pick a fight with, whether he was in a ranting rage or not. Being nothing but pure muscle and pure brain, he was a fierce force to be reckoned with ? even going so far as to outsmart the police, led by Officer Jenny, time and time again. He even hoped to one day overthrow Evice and take command. With Evice doing jail time, now was his time to shine as he had full control of the factory? the factory responsible for making hybrids. Originally, Evice had intended to recreate Shadow Pok?mon with what little information he had left (as the rest was destroyed when Greevil, the leading role of Shadow Pok?mon creating, was captured). But before the time his charges were dropped for ?good behavior,? he met Gates in prison. Gates, during this period, was a guard with big plans. Unfortunately, they consisted of illegal materials and the purposes would have had harsh consequences, therefore he could find no one to take up his project. But he knew about Evice, and he found him to be the perfect person to start it. For several years, they discussed the plan, until one day Evice was finally released. With Gates?s help, they opened up a mart in Orre ? which quickly became popular. However, unknown to the unwary trainers, this was nothing more than a distraction. Every time items were bought, the money would go directly into the investment for the factory? of hybrids.
Gates wanted to create a world where hybrid Pok?mon would be dominant, and would obey him and him alone. Humanity as everyone knew it would have been wiped out, and he would remain supreme? Unfortunately for him, he didn?t really know what he would do after that.
Gates pushes a button on his hovering platform and floats just above the heads of working scientists. They were in ?Station H-Project? ? the station where newly thought up ideas for hybrids was brought and experimented.
?How is the fusing going?? Gates asks one of the lankier men nearby.
?Good, sir,? the man replies, continuing to dive through stacks of paper and tossing out others. ?The fusing of Flygon?s cells and Regirock?s minerals has proven effective.?
?Gooood,? cooed Gates. This was the type of information he loved to hear.
The thing about this factory was that ?Hybrids? were formed by fusing two cells of entirely different Pok?mon together? and there were hundreds of samples to try out. Evice and Gates had formed two special units ? the SAF Unit (Seek-And-Find Unit), and the MAF Unit (Mix-And-Form Unit) ? where both were extremely precious for the continuation of this project. One other unit existed, which dealt with the manufacturing of Pok?mon goods for Evice?s market (however, this team has already been taken out due to Evice's arrest and the shutting down of said market).
The SAF Unit was used to find the locations of any and all Pok?mon ? the only ones that have not been successfully found by this team were Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi.
All cells or samples brought back by this team are handed down to the MAF Unit, which duplicates the samples and mixes them with others collected. There have been plenty of successful creations (all of which are codenamed by numbers: an example being the first Hybrid made, named H001, which was a mixture of Swampert and Rayquaza cells). But, consequently, there have been many more failures. These failures are dumped into a nearby volcano ? the summit of Mt. Battle.
Gates grins as he approaches another project: Project 151.
?Any luck, boys?? he asks, grinning from ear to ear.
One of the scientists replies: ?No good, sir. The Electrode particles and Raikou cells just don?t like each other.?
Gates?s grin fades. But, rather than be upset, he shrugs. ?Then forget it. Go on to another project.?
?Sir.?
The men working in the station immediately stop what they are doing and start throwing away items, shredding papers, and getting rid of materials used for the project. Beside, them, a glass cylinder holding a gray ball in green liquid is deactivated, and the liquid is drained and the gray ball is sent ? along with all other indestructible items ? to the boiling lava crater of Mt. Battle.
Gates moves all about the factory, looking at new creations and giving orders for scrapping some (one in particular was a Jigglypuff-Groudon mix).
Finally, he reaches the end of the factory. There, a lone scientist with spiky gray hair is at work? on a special project assigned solely for him.
?Psst,? Gates whispers, still standing on his hovering platform.
The spectacled man turns around. ?Ahhh, yesssss, Gates ssssir,? he replies with a slur.
?How is H000 coming along??
The twisted-faced, insane-looking scientist grins evilly. ?Nearly complete, ssssir. All cellssss are agreeing with one another? sssso far. Only the Electrode particlessss remain.?
?Very good, very good.?
?Hard it isss, sssir, to make each cell to accept one another, but if it pleasesss you, sssir, I will oblige myself to do your will.?
Gates chuckles, feeling flattered. ?Hehehe? Good, Dr. Tetsuo. May all go according to our plan. This ultimate Hybrid will bring destruction to the world?? Gates chuckles to himself again, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.
Just as Gates is beginning to enjoy his day, an announcement pierces over the intercom. The voice is panicked and frightened.
?The police! Th-They?re here! They found us somehow!! They have the b-building surrounded! I ca- I can?t talk to them! They will take n-no negotiations! I- I- AHH?? The man?s screams are cut short when the sound of gunfire booms. There is some static, and then the intercom shuts off by itself.
Gates, now somewhat alarmed, keeps his cool. He hadn?t expected them to come this fast? His dream of creating this ultimate Hybrid was about to end.
?MAF Unit!? Gates bellowed. ?Stop whatever it is you are doing and destroy all the evidence! All papers, shred them! Any and all samples?? Gates hesitates, but continues. ?All samples and hybrids, destroy them! We will leave NOTHING for them to take home as souvenirs! Let?s go, boys, GO!?
Gates turned to Dr. Tetsuo, who had stopped working and was staring at Gates in fear and disbelief. Gates pointed a thick finger at him, glaring. ?Continue, Doctor. We will NOT give up on H000! Get back to work!?
?B-But Gatesss, sssir,? Doctor Tetsuo stammered, ?the cells need more time??
?I DON?T WANT TO HEAR IT! GET BACK TO WORK, OR I WILL SHOOT YOU MYSELF!?
Gates pushed down a long lever on his metallic platform, leaving behind a wide-eyed Doctor Tetsuo to continue his work. The thing groaned as it went up and back to its starting position: a metallic balcony overlooking the workers, and a door used as an emergency lookout station.
Gates coolly stepped off the metal platform and onto the balcony. He reached out with an unwavering hand and, slowly turning the knob, opened the door.
On this other metallic balcony before him, used to overlook the land, Gates could see them below. They looked like ants, swarming around the entire factory. It was a massive squad of the police force, being led by none other than Officer Jenny.
?How did they find us here?? Gates thought to himself. ?How were they able to find us in the middle of nowhere, on the far side of Mount Battle??
Stray grains of sand gleamed with the sun, and the heat was intense. Gates could already feel himself sweating, but not because of the heat.
Below, Officer Jenny stepped from out of the squadron and into a more open area before the factory. There, she put her lips to a megaphone and shouted: ?All right, you, it?s over! Open the doors to this factory or we will have no choice but to use force!?
Gates smiled calmly, and reached over to the side of him. It was here where the announcement of the polices? arrival was made, and it was here where the frightened announcer was shot down and killed ? blood stained the balcony, the door, and the intercom. His body had plummeted hundreds of feet below. Gates could see him laying down there, eagle-spread.
Replacing the intercom with a microphone, Gates spoke casually. ?Heh-hey now, let?s not get too hasty. Just give me some time to speak with my workers and I?ll open the doors for ya. How does that sound?? He shouted the last part of the message.
Officer Jenny wasn?t amused. She replied back: ?That will not do! Open them now!!?
??ey, Jenny, can?t we just talk??
?I said NOW!!?
The poison in Officer Jenny?s voice had Gates glaring at her. He lowered the microphone. ?Okay, MISS, if you want it THAT way?? Gates crept his free hand slowly behind his back and felt around in his pants? back pocket. He found it quickly. It was always there when he needed it. His Glock, a gun, fully loaded and ready to be used. Now, Gates wasn?t the trigger-happy type of guy who would use a gun when he was angry? but when he was desperate and angry, it becomes a totally different story.
He flicked the small trigger on the back of the gun, setting it. There was a large number of police officers down there? If he acted quickly, he could take out five? maybe six at most. But there would obviously be no way he could take out an entire squadron? How was he getting himself out of this one?
Once more, Gates brought the microphone to his mouth and called out, stalling for his workers. ?Please, miss, I?m begging you. Just one more??
Before he could finish his sentence, there was an explosion from within the factory. Gates rushed back inside just as a rain of bullets came showering from below towards him.
Gates slammed the door? and, to his horror, he saw smoke and a roaring fire near the tail end of the factory. It was right on top of the station where H000 was being made.
?NO!!? Gates screamed in rage as he jumped on his platform, wrenching the long lever back, almost pulling it out. The levitating platform hovered over all the desperately working scientists below, until it reached the end. It paused, then slowly lowered. When it had nearly stopped, Gates jumped off due to his impatience, and began stepping over bodies of workers that had been impacted by the blast. He didn?t care for them, not even for the ones still alive with shards of metal impaling them. All he wanted to see was Doctor Tetsuo, and his precious H000. And, after calling out the man?s name several times, the doctor emerged from the smoke limping, blood trickling down his head. There was a fresh wound near his right arm, which he was holding.
?WHAT HAPPENED!? Gates shrieked, making the doctor jump.
?S-Sssir, one of THEM! Th-They pushed assside me, THEY PUSHED ASSSIDE ME!?
?Why did they push you aside? Was it an accident?!?
The doctor ignored the question and rambled on. ?I wasss preparing to put in the last few drops of Electrode particles, but then one of THEMMM ssshoved me aside! The samplesss fell on the wiresss and the samplesss reacted and EXPLODED! CLUMSY SCIENTISTS! They are not to be trusssted with such delicate worksss!?
Gates had heard enough. His dream crushed, he looked expressionlessly at the hysterical Doctor Tetsuo. Though he was showing no emotion, this was in fact his peak form of his rage. And it was in this form that no one dared mess with him.
?What do I DO, sssir?? the doctor frantically asked, his eyes darting all around the littered floor at the bodies and debris. Gates gazed back at him blankly. He shook his head.
?I have no use of you now.?
Doctor Tetsuo, who had begun running around in small circles, stopped and looked at Gates in surprise. ?What? wasss? that, sssir??
Gates, without any expression at all, blindly brought the gun out before him. ?Good-bye, Doctor.?
?Sssir, SSSIR?!!?
Gates pulled the trigger and shot Doctor Tetsuo square in the head. The man?s neck jerked backward, then he fell lifelessly to the floor like a rag doll.
There was another explosion at the front of the factory as the police finally broke in.
?HANDS UP, HANDS UP, ALL OF YOU! NOW!? Officer Jenny threatened in her megaphone, gun before her. All of the workers stopped moving and instantly put up their hands in unison. Gates, however, did not. He didn?t care now. He looked over the wrecked equipment, at whatever was left of Project H000. But as he did, he saw something in the smoke ? what looked like eyes ? and there was another explosion, a bigger one? right beside Gates. Caught in the enormous impact, he was sent hurtling through the air along with some other workers. And they came to land right near Officer Jenny?s feet.
?Arrest them,? she commanded. Several policemen rushed beside Gates, handcuffs in their hands. But Gates, though down, wasn?t out just yet. He jolted up and delivered a powerful uppercut to one of the policemen, sending him soaring, and elbowed in the stomach another. Soon, there was a swarm of policemen clinging to his huge body, all trying to pin him down. But it was no use. Gates pushed them all aside, as easily as if they were a swarm of flies, and punched away anyone trying to cuff him from behind.
Then a shot rang out. Another. The men, including Gates, stopped moving. Officer Jenny, with her gun pointing in the air, looked angrily at Gates.
?Come with us with no resistance and there will be no trouble,? she said. She then pointed the gun at his face. ??or else.?
Gates stared at Jenny for a while. Then, out of nowhere, and without thinking, he started laughing uncontrollably. It was as if the only way of expressing all his anger, all his rage, all his fury for everything that had happened, was by laughter.
Some courageous policemen managed to sneak up on Gates and cuff him. Gates gave no resistance. He had given in completely. He knew he could break out of those weak handcuffs, kill the officer, and beat the living daylights out of all the other officers in a heartbeat. But with his dream destroyed, ripped away from the very foundation, why struggle? He could not continue the project alone? even if he had thought out a back-up plan.
All the workers, as well as Gates, were tried and all found guilty for the illegal creation of Hybrid Pok?mon. Gates received the highest sentence for being one of the main men in the project, as well as being charged for the murder of Doctor Tetsuo. He received 100 years in jail, no bail.
After the trial, the secret on how the factory was found had been revealed: During the period when Evice was going to be convicted, there had been a report by an anonymous person about smoke coming from within a ?closed? cave. Spies were sent in and kept watch over the productions, gathering evidence, and waiting for the moment to strike. Thus, that is how the explosion had erupted inside the factory with the Electrode samples ? it had in fact been one of the spies, giving the police time to enter the factory and distract any further developments.
With both Gates and Evice, the two leaders behind the Hybrid project, now behind bars with the rest of their workers, the project was officially dropped. By order of the Orre police, the Hybrid-making factory was destroyed and all Hybrids eliminated.
