- Official Post
From now on when you create a thread you will be given the option to choose a prefix to better illustrate the nature of topic. Of course you can choose no-prefix if you think none are relevant.
How to Find Threads with a determined Prefixes:
These are all the available pre-fixes at this time. More pre-fixes might be added and a few ones scrapped, in which case I'll edit this post and reply to bring it to your attention. New Topics will have the prefix option right there in the title field. Staff will label the older threads when and as they see fit.
"Detailed explanation of each label and their expected uses"
GENERAL: Intended for any topic
Serious Discussion
It is a label perfectly suitable for threads made with the purpose of debate or topics where the Thread Author wishes members to contribute with a more thoughtful reply. Members are advised to give a reasoning beyond simply sharing the summarise stance or opinion on said topic.
NRC / 15+
It is a label to warn people before opening a thread that they are getting into a not-for-Everyone kind of topic.
Example of use:
- We might discuss our opinions on controversial topics such as religion, strippers, drugs, use of porn, etc but it is against the rules to share nudity, facility a site to get drugs, etc.
- We might want to share a video with crude humour that might not be suitable for young viewers or people with no appreciation for the grotesque or vulgar style.
The idea is to have a way to discern "normal" topics from those that might not be adequate for our younger members. The Rules are still in place so do not share anything NSFW or illegal.
If you think a rename of the prefix or a different approach could be more effective please start a new topic in feedback for the later to discuss this idea or suggest here the alternative name or prefixes to address this.
Recurrent
It is for those topics we expect people to answer often for example "what are you reading, eating, listening to, playing, etc kind of topics.
FEEDBACK: Intended mostly for the Feedback and projects Areas.
Idea
Use this if you want to share an idea for an add-on, a contest, a project and are not seeking a resolution to a problem.
Bug
If you find any glitch, the forum is acting weird, use this one so we know it is something technical.
Help!
If you have a problem and require our assistance, let us know. This include things like not understanding the tools to use the forum, if you can't find an appropriate area.
A second use in the gaming forums for when you're stuck in a level or have any doubts.
TYPE OF CONTENT: Intended mostly for shallow threads in the Game Talk zones where media shared is the main topic, but can be used in other areas too.
Video
This will make easier for people to know what to find in your thread. For example we can share Flash videos of Zelda in Zelda Talk using this pre-fix.
Music
Even if it is a music video you found in Youtube if the focus is the music (so it is not an AMV or video in itself) you can add this label.
IMG
If your thread is mainly to share a picture use this.
MEASURE: To easily know if a project, contest, etc is still open, has concluded, has been abandoned, etc.
In Process
It is being carried on. In contests it means it is still open for you to participate.
Pending
Something that has to be retaken but at this point it has been left a bit on the side.
Paused
Either we need something else to continue or a different thing is getting our attention. It shall be halted, maybe for a long time.
Finished
If a contest you're late to enter, if a project it has been carried out successfully. That is the main connotation the happy ending.
Cancelled
Some things are just not meant to be, but hey, at least we tried!.

Also remember you can use the forum "Tags" to further specify what a thread is about. For example, I can use the 15+ prefix and tag my thread with "excessive swearing", "youtube", "parody" so people know better what to expect. Also be noted that staff may insert both tags and prefixes to past and upcoming threads to better suit the content.
That's all for now. I hope you like them and give them some use.
