In the far off, post-apocalyptic year of 1997, people use bikes. Because why does nobody use bikes in any other post apocalypse? Bikes are an excellent mode of transportation that is faster than walking, and doesn't require using any limited resource like gasoline. They ought to be exactly what a post apocalyptic world needs!
I mean, yeah, they look a little silly. But still, it's a good idea.
I was expecting something a little more like Kung Fury, but this movie takes itself a lot more seriously than that movie did. It's a full-on, hour-and-a-half adventure against some cool villains who are legitimately pretty scary guys.
The female lead certainly falls into the "Manic pixie dreamgirl" stereotype, but due to some plot developments that I won't spoil, I think she's really more of a subversion of that stereotype.
For reals, go watch this movie. It's great.
