Too many Subboards

I think there are too many subforums.

The primary advantage of splitting a forum up into subsections is that it prevents threads from being buried. If there was only a single "General Discussion" area, then a thread posted at noon would be on the 2nd page if it didn't get any responses by the end of the day. That, of course, would be a problem.

But this forum isn't that active. At least, not currently. Most of the subforums have 2-3 threads in them, many of which haven't been posted in in months. Which creates problems of its own. It takes longer for people to find a thread they can participate in, because they have to click through a bunch of different subforums looking. Plus, when they see that the newest thread in a given section hasn't bee updated since April, they might think this forum is dead. When people think a forum is dead, they often leave.

I wouldn't say that. Bigger issues would be the fact that general discussion has 3 sub forums, and that each console has subforums for specific zelda games.

Well there's already a subforum for every console, why does it really need to be divided up further? It's a Zelda forum, and you have an SENS subforum. Obviously that's where LttP threads should be posted. Why have a separate LttP subforum within the SNES forum? And all of the specific game subforums are pretty dead. The boards currently have fewer than ten active posters. Hopefully that number will go up, but until it does there are more subforums than there are active members. Personally, I find it kind of frustrating to find threads to participate in, because I have to dig through so many sub forums.

The terminology I've always used is that the whole shebang is the forum, and the individual sections are the sub forums, and any sections within those sections are sub-sub forums or something. Not that it matters. =P

Indeed. This is doubtless the beginning of a blood feud between Link and I that will last for generations.

That may be the wrong attitude to have lol but screw it. I want stuff to be readily accessible by what makes sense to me. If that sounds like a legitimate answer.

I'm not here to tell you what to do with your boards. You do what you feel is best for your boards, and I'll stick around and enjoy them either way.

I have a background in building arguments, and a background in forum administration. I'm sorry if my feedback came off as imperious or demanding. I really just wanted to make sure my thoughts were fully understood. =)
