Thank you so much for voting.
Yes. I would love if we could pass to the next round. If we're behind five votes that can be a challenge.
-
Hahaha. I love that the first thing you have done is giving a warning to another account.
Guys I tend to have less time during the weekend. Hopefully I can catch up properly tomorrow.
By any chance do you have a discord account, Silent Lion?
-
Well Silent Lion , don't keep us in suspense.
-
No I didnt. SL could turn it down. IDK lol
Oh crap!

Silent Lion, Claraviolet and everyone thinking about voting:
Forum promotion is back online. Because of the downtime they are extending the poll for extra 3 days.
Battle #22: Zelda Community Vs Admin Loop -
You know I am not even mad.
In all seriousness, I think it is an excellent idea. Welcome on board Silent Lion I hope at least Link talked to you and let you accept before the promotion or this can get awkward.
Looking forward working with you! -
I appreciate the concern, Claraviolet. I know you don't want to see the community die and I am grateful for that.
With that being said, I don't think we will be removing the feature. Our chatbox is special, and Link worked in providing us this feature. This chat is connected with a channel in our discord group. This means it is offering us a rare window for people who are not one either community to interact with each other, which I feel has been working nicely.
I am sure you have your own experiences to indicate you that chatbox cause decrease of activity in forums. I am not saying this to minimize your own experiences but to explain my own view. Personally, I've had more of a mixed experience. I've seen forums losing engagement because of them, I've seen forums having more activity too. I've seen forums that actually go dead after killing off the chatbox because the chatbox was the last thing keeping people visiting.
If people are spending more time in the chatbox than the community I think that is more a signal that the forum itself is not being compelling enough and it fall on us as staff to wake up try to make more threads and make the community engaging taking advantage of the members that are visiting. Depriving the community from things they like and expecting them to post more doesn't work well unless the community itself feels fine with the compromise.
The chatbox is a tool, so we can it to our advantage if we point to interesting things going on the community too. While I am not considering at time taking away the chatbox I am definitely taking your concern on board and I will try to come up with ways to use it more in favor of the community, like linking to important news and spark conversation on the latest happenings.
With all being said, I definitely would love to hear the opinion of the rest of the community. I am open to hear opinions and it would be nice to have a better idea of where does the community stand regarding this. -
It is a weird thing that there are not Gerudo in the world and your theory definitely is a pretty interesting way to make things click.
Among some Zelda fans there's the belief that the Royal Family is full of dark secrets, so I am sure this fits really nicely with that. The desert area is vast and empty but you can see elements left behind. Ganondorf killed a sage and maybe harsh decisions were done in retribution. -
Ugh. I am sorry. It is a big bummer. What's going on is that they are moving to a different host, because of timezones I am assuming they had to pause before letting it be open to the public again. Once they open again it should be good.

Claraviolet Silent Lion, Kyde and everyone that has been helping us with your votes so far. I might need you to vote again.
Because of a Database Failure at Forum Promotion, they lost 40 hours of posts, so if you voted after Friday chances are that your vote has been lost, so I want to ask you guys to double check the thread and see if your vote is still there. I think Link's vote is safe according to his post above. Haha.
Battle #22: Zelda Community Vs Admin LoopAlso, I've updated the first post on this thread so it looks neat and straight to the point where we are... and how far we could make it.

I can't access FP.
An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later.
I wish I could remember the voting...I would love to vote for Zelda community again
Yeah, unfortunately they were having some issues. I spoke with some of the staff and they are working on it.
Right now it is giving a server error, but seems the theme loaded so hopefully in some hours we can have some news.
ADDED: I think they are transferring to a different server so it might be longer before it becomes available again.

RESULTS:
That was a close call. Surviving the sweet sixteen is going to be a challenge.

Battle #22: Zelda Community Vs Admin Loop
Admin Loop I believe is owned by kingcool52, so I feel pretty lucky we get to share this match. It's a pretty nice resource blog and community for webmasters and I am not going to lie, between both choices I am pretty sure folks at FP are more familiar with them than us, haha. This is going to be really though.Feel free to keep us updated how the votes are going. Thanks again for your support.

This gem of a game coming in few months was the surprise end of this month's Nindies presentation. As the name implies you'll rely on rhythm to defeat and progress through and defeat enemies. This game is a crossover with "Crypt of the Necromancer" with Zelda elements. It is quite interesting it is being treated as a indie game and so it that Nintendo agreeably allowed for such a collaboration.
QuoteIn the latest rhythmic action-adventure from Brace Yourself Games, you can enjoy the gameplay of Crypt of the Necrodancer in the setting of The Legend of Zelda series. As Link—or even as Princess Zelda—you’ll explore the randomly generated overworld and dungeons on a quest to save Hyrule. Every beat of each remixed, The Legend of Zelda tune is a chance to move, attack, defend, and more, so stay one step ahead of each enemy and boss…or face the music. Cadence of Hyrule is coming Spring 2019!
I guess it is not long from now before we can have it on our Switch.
I really like the character design with sprites. Are you guys gonna give it a chance? -
Well, if you do it, best of luck with it. I hope you let us know how it goes. :D
-
I am thinking of sending my bill to Gamestop and seeing if I can get a refund because i paid 120 for the console and 117 for the repair....
I am not sure how likely they'd be to honor it, but if you are seriously consider it, might as well give that a shot. You'd have nothing to lose and potentially something to gain.

Voted for Zelda community.
I hope I would remember to vote for the remaining battles as well. We won this round as far as I am concerned
Aaah, Claraviolet. Thank you so much!! :D
-
I am glad that worked out really well once Nintendo was in charge of it.
I don't know how Gamestop can "Certified" refurbishments, it basically made you paid twice for it.
I am going to be wary for second hand at EBGames and stuff, since it is my understanding their parent company is still Gamestop. With all that aid, I am happy that is now something in the past for you.

Current Status: Defeated.
Thank you for your participation. It's been quite enjoyable, even if our journey was shorter. We can prepare and make sure to make a comeback next time. Good luck to all our visitors still have your site going in Forum Promotion.

1st Round: Battle #11: Zelda Community Vs Fireside Chats - VICTORY! :D
- This first battle is already tough, and it is against a blog from a very nice member. I meant what I said in the thread. It is pretty cool to coincide with her for our first encounter.
- Result: That was a close call, guys, but we won by two votes.
Boring Explanation
Deja Vu! I can't believe it is already time to be making this thread again!
A year ago I decided to enroll Zelda Community in a event held on in another community I have been part of for a long time called "ForumPromotion", which is a hub community for webmasters to come interact and find ways to help their communities. This event was a voting contest to help promote some communities. You can read how it was for us when we entered to the SBM 2018. Since it seems like typically Forums have better reception than websites, I decided one again to enter our lovely community. With the change of software and the tweaks that Link has been doing, I am confident we have something new to offer for people visiting us from Forum Promotion.
Site Battle Madness 2019
The tournament has kicked with 32 websites. Divided in two groups. Each group will be divided with vote battles between two contestants. The one with more votes wins and pass to the next level of the tournament. You can read all the details in Forum Promotion's thread: SBM 2019 Official Rules & Prizes.
As for Zelda Community, we are nested inside the second group, You can see our progress at the top of this post and through this thread.
I will do my best to keep you updated on how we fare through the competition. How to help
1. Join Forum Promotion.
( If you participated last year, you are probably already with enough posts to participate. :/)
2. Make 5 posts in their community before voting.
(If you are unsure, I'd say go to try first to create a thread in "New to FP?" and introduce yourself. Then for the other 4 posts you can head to intelectual talk as it is their general talk section. Forum games don't increase your post count. And since you are there feel free to check the other sites and vote or explore the community.)
3. Head straight to the current Battle poll with Zelda Community in the title
4. Make sure to vote for us! -
It is an interesting question. I like to think that most of the movies success was plainly because the books were already a success so there was a lot of people wanting to watch how such a huge fantasy would be adapted.
During the eighties we had some movies that really appealed to that medieval fantasy kind of stories and then by the nineties, around the time of Ocarina of Time, that trend seemed to go down. If at all, I think that the nostalgia for that kind of films was part of what made people excited for it. It seemed to be promising something as big as Styar Wars was on its time.
With that being said, I do think that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask might have helped some gamers to feel predisposed to check these movies out. Also Legolas looked similar enough to Link to pull on some viewers and stir the pot when people were comparing them to say who was cooler.
Speaking of which, there has been some pretty cool stuff in BotW so it would be anice time to remake this Meme with an actual cool footage of Link breaking havock while shield surfing.
