Well, it seems like this rumour might be getting more plausible. We've got the 100 mini dungeons confirmed, there's a definite technology vs fantasy theme, dynamic weather seems to be included...

Yeah, when they mentioned exactly 100 mini dungeons, it made me think back on this thread.

do you like the idea of only 4 main dungeons? At first, I didn't like the sound of it, but I loved MM. Having only 4 dungeons meant each compass point area could be expanded into an epic quest of its own, and reaching the dungeon felt like so much more of a climax. In games with many dungeons, it's a bit like "Oh, it's another dungeon. Whatever."

I never really thought of that.

In BotW, just 4 main dungeons is still too vague of a thing. The first impulse to me is to link the number of dungeons with the story, which might be a completely wrong assumption. MM was short story but the side quests and reliving the same 3 days is what padded it out. BotW doesn't have the urgent vibe, it feels like the game wants you to take as long as you want around. We also know that is plausible to run from beginning straight to the final boss. I think these 4 dungeons are actual key landmarks of Hyrule. If Aonuma kept the idea of dissolving the line where the dungeon starts and ends, I think there will be some main zone that will serve as these 4 'dungeons', but that they won't have a traditional dungeon look, probably more like SS kind of areas.

I haven't learned my lesson. I still taking forums for granted.

"I swear is not the vodka"

Remember guys when HCA closed? When the Great deku tree Forums died? When The Sacred Realm decided no more? When Zelda Gamers went bye-bye? When one morning the Anubis Boards was no more?

Remember Gamercrossfier, Twilight of Heroes and the refugee communities starting after the fall of beloved communities because the community couldn't deal with the idea of losing a home, it is happening again to another community and while I am not a core member I can't help to feel bad for it.

9gc6m0.jpg I didn't post that status, by the way.

So, my last status from last year was when I finally decided to join the place. I knew of it for years. Heck, it was around before I moved to Australia. Steady growth and the owner a familiar face everywhere. If there is a board I would like to take as inspiration to make ZC big, this one would be one of them. There was always something going on the boards and advertising in every place I visited, in addition I saw the owner also chilling in other communities, varied ones. This guy's life was dedicated to the place. You could feel the big care for it.

Here is the shameful part, if he hadn't send a massive email to advice of this, I would probably wouldn't had noticed in time. I planned to return and get more involved with wober and other communities, but I have had things preventing me from taking a more active role online. If I cannot be online here in my community as much as I think is the ideal to, then I will dedicate much less to the rest.

I visited a couple of times and I had good times. people were friendly to me and I spoke my mind as I do, in some threads. I joined a few contests but a part of me is sad that in all the many years I was online I didn't try to get involved and now it is closing.

The owner at first basically just posted the new you see in the advice all over it. The rest of the staff didn't knew what was going on so they all panicked and thought it was a hacker impersonating the admin. Staff was revoked and a few other changes occurred but eventually it was cleared up that it was real. A decision had been made and there is no turning back.

Honestly, I couldn't ask J to change his mind, I know I wouldn't post as much as I have. I was a visitor that had a good time and good memories, but I so well known what is like to be part of the core. To dedicate thousands of your posts in a community you feel safe and call home. To make those strong bonds. I know how much this hurts for them. It makes sad.

I think, honestly, what attracted me the most to wober was not the community in itself but to know it was the project of that friendly person. Since he always was making silly jokes and greeting people, I think many of us missed just how much managing the community meant to him. He reminded me of another person I knew who also would worry sick about her community well being, trying to come with contest ideas, with how to increase the activity if it started to wane, in how to control the drama spilling around. It was an active community but only a fraction of the current one. Dealing head on with this for years takes a huge toll on you. My friend just obeyed her whim and deleted the forum in one go, this guy here, was selfless enough to fight that desire and just put the notification. He could have 'handled' it better, as people still felt disrespected by him cutting ties even with the staff, but considering that he probably was not in the state of mind to deal with it and just how easier would had been for him just to delete everything and be gone in smoke, he gave their community more than enough time to learn of the situation and migrate to where they will.

Everybody is worried about the community that they seem to miss what this mean for the owner. To reach the point of closing a project you defended multiple times, even when other people offered you money for it, a project so dear to you that you invested so much time and effort, it means something really cracked inside. it could had been sudden to us but it was something that must had kept him awake at night.

I've seen it over and over in the past, owners loving their projects doing so much for it and getting burn so badly that they destroy everything linked to it, instead of wings they got chains. Guys, this is one of my mental locks. It is why I get scared of the idea of aiming to make ZC as big as ZU as soon as possible. I don't want to pressure ourselves to the point of driving us mad and hating something we were meant to love. Zelda Cavern must be nurtured with love and it will grow slowly but steadily. I apologise I have been utterly 'chill' but in order to give you my best I also need to find again my own rock. I have now all the time but being unemployed is seriously mining everything else. Couple that to dealing with some personal matters that have come one after another this year and well. I am not good hiding when I am feeling crappy.

I guess this is part of why this resonates with me, it is calling back a lot of feelings. Not just about online communities but of the owner himself. I feel bad I never tried to reach out to him. As usual I never started conversations but he did try to greet me anywhere. It is the kind of people you think you know but then you realise you really know nothing about. It sucks. I just wonder for how long he was cheering everyone else while feeling bad on the inside. I feel like maybe I could have done a bit more for him.

A lot of this is probably just me projecting my own feelings over his own words. I am pretty good at doing that. I left him a message on the community and he gave it a like. I teared right there. He gave me a signal that he actually came across it. I really do wish him the best to gain back his peace and be the kind of person he wants to be.

I decided against making a whole thread for this. I don't even know why am I posting it here instead of livejournal or something, I guess it is that stupid wish for connections that makes me hope someone recognises where the screenshot is from, while the other part of me is concerned that is stupid idea that will make me feel like crap if it happens or not. Same reason I am not linking directly or typing the name here (although you can figure things out with the screenshot) so google doesn't pick it up straight away. Also out of respect for J, who called out scavengers coming to advertise to his place I won't mention Zelda Cavern there on the days it has left.

Alright, feel free to carry on now.

This is Nintendo's Playlist with everything related to BotW they have released in their channel so far.

I am honestly super excited about this. I think it is a step in the right direction. It is jumping back to the very first zelda and what they wanted to convey with it and then take a further step to bring it with today's technology. They killed their darlings and let go things we have come to expect from the saga, and so far it looks like it works. it really works well.

Not long tutorial or semi branches that only gives you the illusion of choice when at the end we played the same story. You wake up in a cave, go out and have to work your way out for survival and learning what's going on. By experimenting you learn new things like useful recipes, strategies to take out your foes, unexpected tools. You explore, discover, learn and tackle what and when you want. They say you can even skip straight into the final boss. This is exciting because it means that your first playthrough is going to be yours, unique and different from anybody else. That is friggin amazing!

Also the Slate powerups Link collect are really clever. I like how they are not just for the building you found them in but they become another way o interact with the open world, and instead of obvious arrows or hints, it is up to you to see what can react to it and experiment. The gameplay showed a girl using a boulder to shield enemy attacks, lighting grass on fire to take advantage of the wind direction and have it spread that fire into an enemy camp. During every moment it really feels like there is not 'one right way' to do things.

Also the animations look so smooth. I love how in the menu screen Link reflects how is he withstanding the weather. Shivering Link is just plain adorable, the animation is so nice and smooth. It sounds like a game that I'll be popping up just to have fun way after I had defeated the main story.

Zelda Breath of the Wild is all that is on my mind right now. (n_n)
I didn't watch the second day but I stayed up for everything regarding Zelda BotW. I don't know how much of that I missed by the end of it with the huge lagging and my body screaming to go and sleep.

I didn't really feel excited about a new pokemon game. It is not them, it is just that I feel overwhelmed by them.

Mario Party Star Rush seems interesting with the changes to the formula. I am not going to run for it, but it seems nice to actually have freedom to strategize your steps in a grid kind of map.

    As for other announcements:
Axiom Verge has all the look of a Metroid game.

Severed is probably another one that really got my attention, and apparently it isn't even a new game and came for the PS Vita before.

Runbow Pocket also seems pretty interesting with the color mechanics for the platforms to be accessible or not.

I've never tried Jotun: Valhalla Edition before, but I think is cool it is based around Norse mythology.
And speaking of Mythology, Olympia Rising also seems interesting.
Lego Dimensions... well, it is pretty interesting crossover but I am not that attracted by it or the Minecraft one.

Ever Oasis sounds interesting but I don't find it it particularly gets my attention. maybe as more trailers come out and more things get revealed.

The name for the until now known as zelda Wii U/NX has been revealed as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I think there is plenty to be excited about!

    • The animation seems pretty smooth.
    • I like the idea of trying to find ingredients and cooking them to discover different recipes.
    • I am assuming from the trailer you are able to tame wild horses!
    • Link needing proper clothes or food in order to survive extreme weather.
    • The Sheikah power abilities are pretty cool and clever. I like how they are useful for the open world exploration and not just the areas where you find them.
    • Setting things on fire and making things go BOOM!
    • Koroks are back!!
    • Getting frigging Wolf Link from Twilight Princess as your partner if you read the amibo once a day is pretty rad.

As we are a Zelda community, I figured this one is worth the direct hook.

Guys I am so excited about Zelda Wii U / NX. The trailer showed plenty of neat little things! In general I am liking the direction for the game, it seems gearing more towards exploring and having us build our own journing by finding weapons and clothes, getting better ones and learning to upgrade them.

Oh, and they talked about pokemon for a good while but I didn't pay attention because my mind was somewhere else, namely in trying to relive over and over the Zelda Trailer.

At this point this is just basically an assumption.

This image was released not very long ago and it has opened an interesting question. Is it just an artistic liberty or are we seeing to a new skill for our young hero?

I am inclined to think it is indeed an in-game ability, even if we lack any real details on how it works. It might be of limited use of tied to a game item or milestone. What do you think?

    UPDATE:
Nintendo Treehouse has shown beyond doubt that it is a real mechanic and one we'll probably use a fair amount of times if we desire to, in order to explore.
It uses the energy gauge, but I am fine with that.

Yeah, I just watched the stream of the movie through twitch while using the system chat to talk with Edward. :)

Neo and Trinity are both pretty wooden, there's no getting around that. It really doesn't bother me in the first movie. Sometimes people are emotionally reserved, I think it works. It's not until the second movie where they're supposed to be passionately in love when it starts to feel a little awkward.

I can't recall the next movies, but I agree for the first one you can still justify it as being reserved, given their past, their reality and their own doubts.

Thanks, guys. To be honest i find intimidating playing against others when I don't even have a clue on what am I really getting into without trying the game on my own. I will check around specifically for AoE one or two. Maybe, I'll be able to find the original AoEII very cheaply now that the HD edition was released not that long ago.

I watched the first one recently with @Edward_Stryfe. I think it still holds pretty good and it is possibly still my favourite movie of the lot. It has great quotes and good moments. They did something (back then) unique with the angles and offered a very interesting reflection.

One of the common complains in character I read about is the lack of emotion, specially in Trinity. Specially with the love blooming. I dunno, for me it was fitting, I think it was intended like that.

I have never really been involved with any RTS by itself the genre doesn't hold my attention. I guess I just think I wouldn't be very good at it.
However I have at least some curiosity in some of the titles out there , so probably is just a matter of time to give it a go.

Ah, I remember when the quotes and avatars were rampant in the online communities. Now that several years have passed the opinion on the movies have shifted to a bit less favourable opinion for some, while for other people they remain a classic.

So time to go back to it and talk about those quotes, plot holes, that world and all the reflections about our own.
Also, if you want, talk about the negatives like how you got tired of the bullet dodge and freeze scene - turn angle in the middle of a jump kick. Or how X movie might have done it first/better.

Whatever you feel like. In the basic sense is a thread to just talk about the movies and if we liked them or not and why.

Yeah the Crossbow Training was really really fun I wish I still had it. Unfortunately we had to sell all my games at one point cause of money issues.

That's a shame. If region wasn't an issue I could try to get you a copy here, they sell the game really cheap because no one cares for it. :T_T:
Sorry to hear you had to let go of your collection. I hope you don't have to do something like that again. In the end I understand and I hold onto some items hoping that if I ever have the need in the next decades they become collector items and I can sell them online to get me by. Still for me taht would be like a a very last resort. I rather eat canned beans if I can help it.

Oh, and Resident Evil 5 is pretty cool in cooperative mode. It feels pretty good to make it through the levels.

This is to more or less show what we got.

    Red shelf 1: R1: 3DS and DS; R3: PS2; R4:GC; R5: XBox, Dreamcast, PS1, Atari, Mega Drive.
    Black shelf: R1: PS3; R3: Wii U, NES; R4: Wii, R5: GBC, GBA.
    Red Shelf 2: R1: PS3 & PS4; R3:N64, R4: SNES.
We have a bit of everything. There are many games I still have to play myself.
I will try to make a list of the games we got, but not right now.

It sounds pretty cool the score thing and playing as Venom as a reward.
This reminds me of Crossbow Training, as @Cressel and I would fight to get the best score spots. It seems the game is really frowned upon here, I can't find people to play it with and that fight for the top score was for me part of the fun.

Killer Instint I met the Nintendo 64 version, it was pretty fun. I loved the stages. I'd keep using the amazon and be killed quite easily.
