Well, it's been two weeks unemployed now. I resigned my past position and I am currently looking for a job. I am taking it easy though. Choosing what I apply for. Hopefully I will get a job before the eyar ends.

How are you guys doing with your jobs?

I'm doing alright with mine. Being in-home assistance for the mentally challenged is a pretty stable gig. And since I work graveyard, I don't have to handle any of the really difficult stuff. Plus my patients are all pretty chill, and my coworkers are great.

The administration is weak, but overall I'm pretty happy with my current arrangement. At least, as happy as I ever am with paycheck work.

:!: Ask me about the D&D books I've published.

If I find out you mistreat those people, I'm going to go to your house and kick your ass. But, I'm sure you are a nice guy. I'm only saying this because I have a mental disability and I can't stand when pricks go "Omfg yur so autistic and shietttttt" like it's a fucking joke.

Other than going with a Halloween disguise on the 31st I don't think LS would do something close to such a thing. ;-P

Is there any reason in particular your mother is making you get a job?

    Yeah, obviously I don't mistreat anybody. =P

Really, I like most of the folks I assist. Though I am glad I don't have to be there during the day. I'm not well equipped to handle them in large doses.

I'm probably just going to work at Food City, a grocery store, until next year. I was going to work at Game Stop, but their minimum age requirement is 16 years old.

I think my mom only wants me to get a job to get some money of my own, as well as learn some responsibility. I'm getting old, gais.

Oh, well, whatever it is just take it as that, an opportunity to learn more about yourself and earning money. Your first job interviews will help you polish yourself for if you decide to pursue that Game Stop job later on. :)

So, after a good amount of months unemployed, it seems I finally landed something. II am back to the kitchen, as a kitchen hand in a Tex-Mex inspired bar and grill place.
Yesterday I had my "trial". It was a calm day. I got positive reception and the Cook seems happy.
Tomorrow will be busy, but if everything goes alright I think I can consider myself pretty much in.

This has lifted my spirits a lot. Getting income and money for my retirement feels really nice.
Not to mention that Tex-Mex basically is where I grew up, in the frigging border between Chihuahua and Texas, hahaha.
The staff seems pretty chill with me too! I'll keep you guys updated.

    Grats!

The first few days always kinda suck for me, but it's nice to be in an environment you're already comfortable with.

I've had a summer job this year. About 20 applications failed but one went through, and that's all it takes. I've spent the time doing my best to impress. They have a relevant permanent position out and I've applied for that. Now I've got my fingers crossed that my advantage is sufficient.

This is pretty much a fork in the road for me, my life can go in different directions after this Fall. My work situation and my future have been linked thus for years though, but this is the last call. I've long lost my ability to be stressed out though, so I'm mostly stoic about it. Que sera sera

You could say I worked as a script kiddie and private investigator. Basically this research foundation did a project on a solar panel installation in the city. They wanted to visualize the data, but weren't sure how, so they brought me in.

During the six weeks I was there, I realized that a lot of the data was missing, what they did receive was very odd, and the one person who could tell us what was going on, was on extended leave.

So I pieced together what I could and gave them a way to fetch and process the data. They didn't have a database, they had no way to install server-side software, and their data only arrived as attachments in Outlook. In the end, I wrote a Windows batch file to periodically call an exe file that extracted attachments from Outlook, and a script interface that transformed this to a pseudo-database stored in Excel files. Because that's how researchers roll - awkwardly.

Now I hope they'll use it enough to be delighted but not enough for it to hit a bug and break down.

The job I'm hoping for is as a researcher on similar projects. What they really entails, I hope to find out in an interview!
