Are the DS's screens too small for you? Are you jealous of the PSP's screen? Well a developer by the name of "loopy" has released a very nifty "little" mod to solve those problems. Hook up your DS to two laptop screens! Although the system isn't really portable anymore, you'll never have any problems with the touch screen again! And that for only $580 folks.
It actually looks pretty awesome. I'm not very at good at soldering, so I'll never get one. It's still a very nice mod though.

Quote from loopyDisplay MoreOoookay ... since this has hit Digg etc., maybe I should fill in more details.
Parts and approximate cost (you can do better scrounging for stuff on eBay):
Gateway M275 screens (14" 1024x768): $100*2 (eBay)
LVDS modules (Advantech PCM-205): $60*2
Digilent S3BOARD + headers: $130
Nintendo DS: $100
Wacom pen: $30Grand total: $580 (let's make it an even $600 for any other miscellaneous junk). However, _MOST_ of these things were spare parts I had laying around from earlier projects, so it didn't cost me anywhere near that much. I wouldn't have bothered if it did.
The FPGA takes care of pen reading and scaling up the display. No, it doesn't do any filtering, though that wouldn't be too hard to add. The top screen is capable of reading a pen, but of course the DS only has one touch sensitive screen so it's not used.
I have no intention of producing these things, or selling the one I have. Unless I'm offered more than the price above, but I don't expect anyone will be that crazy.
