@LinkSkywalker's mention in the shoutbox about "quite" being a filler reminded me of a table I saw on the nets not that long ago. It made me think in the similarities between saying "quite" and saying "very", so I thought it might be an interesting share. I hope you find it useful.

So, like, this list is academically interesting. But in practice, it's actually best to minimize your use of adjectives to create the most impactful writing.
Which isn't to say I'm some stylistic genius or anything. Minimizing adjectives os just a good general rule of thumb.
Well, there are lots of different kinds of writing, and I'm not an expert with any of them. But adjectives are an example of 'telling' when you ought to be 'showing.' And listeners/readers tend to gloss over adjectives anyway.
I could maybe write up some examples when I'm not typing on a wiiU controller. =P

I mean, a few of the adjectives in the list seem to work better with "very" before them because the synonym of their superlative form seems too pretentious. "Villainous"? Not many people would use that in a conversation unless they were joking around.

Good point. If the substitute becomes too distracting then it defeats the purpose to make the lecture flow.
Well, we use very to emphasize our point.
It's easy to use and such.
