You think this was for Link's Awakening DX DX DX Switch DX Version?

    (°^O^°)

Honestly, I thought it could be related since that person could help remake the old dungeons with the new style rather than starting from zero. Then again, it would be kind of late to hire someone for a game that has had enough progress like to be announced to the public.

There are rumors that Nintendo has already started to work in the next Zelda, so I think it makes more sense this person was hired for that supposed new game.

Whelp, I guess this is an spoiler if you haven't finished all there is to do with with Link's Awakening Dx. The version of the game re-released for the Gameboy Color in 1998.

If you don't care about spoilers or are already familiar with the added elements for this version I guess you are welcome to keep on reading.

So, we got the Color Dungeon, that extra dungeon you could not access if you weren't playing the game in color. That dungeon had puzzles relying on colors. I don't remember much but maybe you do. How did you like those puzzles?

Once you completed it you would find a Great Fairy who would bestow on you the Power of Color by letting you choose between two tunics. Now, feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this but I think the Red Tunic would double your attack power so you need half the hits to kill something, and the blue tunic would double your defense so you would receive half the damage.

So if you had played this far you can tell us which one did you ended choosing and if you regretted it.

So in general, why did you think of this whole "Dungeon of color" addition?

Going to work tired is horrible! I did a stint at a supermarket around the time my little girl was born, I had a twelve mile bike ride to get there for a 4am shift start, so that meant waking up at 12:50. The sleep deprivation can build quite high after a month or two.

Damn, man. That's a long stretch to take by bike. Then you had to deal with the physical tiredness that must come riding that distance back and forth.

And thank you. I hope so too.

Now I am thinking I distracted Silent Lion from work when I quoted you about the contest, haha.
Thanks for answering the question. :P

I am enchanted with the whole thing. I am looking forward to the remake. The style is fresh while keeping the view of the original, including the side-scrolling.

There are many things going in my head with the official art design choice for Link. I am hoping they will keep the DX things and we get the unlockable funny pictures redone in that Oracle Link kind of design.

I wonder if the shop keeper is gonna still be able to kill you. If your name will be switched to THIEF if you steal something.

If you can get that Yoshi plush (maybe it'd be the model from Craft World).

Something I am wondering about as well is if they will keep the ending of the game the same

    Display Spoiler

You know, with the whole twists of Link waking up alone.

I am specially curious how will they handle Marin's fate. Will they make it clear she escapes? Will it be omitted or changed completely?

Marin, Marin, Marin... Before Malon was a thing, there was this chick, and her father "Tarin".

It's been so many years since this gal appeared in our lives that in many zelda communities, a lot of fans didn't even know who the hell I was talking about when i brought her up as romantic interest for Link. That happened to me even while I was active on the Zelda Amino, so I made a wiki entry for her, which I should probably edit to correct all my typos, haha.

After Hyrule Warriors brought that sweet DLC that let us see her in HD, I honestly thought that's be the end of it, but the announce of Link's Awakening being remade really got me by surprise. I am really hoping the remake helps bring this gal back in to the radar so at least fans know about her.

Anyway, I think she is quite an interesting character. She seemed to form a good friendship with Link and it even seems like there were hints that there could be something more. Something I liked about her was how if you kept doing some of the things she initially scolded you she sometimes would let herself be taken by the moment.

That nice moment they share by the beach and the "Ballad of the Wind Fish" is something I remember a lot from this game. I also remember the funny moments like when they both get a good chance to have their picture taken together and of course you have the father cluelessly butting in between them. haha.

So she is pretty much good in my books.

I wonder if playing the game again will change my opinion on her.

What about you guys? What impressions do you have on the gal?

When this was originally announced, it was quite unexpected. Through Twitter, Nintendo of America just asked us to watch a video, and it was from there that Reggie explained his decision of leaving behind his Title as the President of Nintendo of America in a few months, coming April this year.

He thanks the fans and talks a bit what it's been for him to work for Nintendo. It seems like filling his shoes is not going to be easy.

Quite humorous that the person who'll have the honour and pressure to fill that spot is named Doug Bowser.
I think no many of us even knew about hiom before this annoucement and from my understanding he's the Vice President of the Sales and Marketing department.

He got a twitter account, thetruebowser, from which he seems to have good sense of humor and seems fine with the Last name and the jokes that people are coming up about Bowser taking over the company.
Just look at the Mario and Luigi plushies in that picture, haha.

Hopefully the new President can infuse his own flavor while keeping the spirit of Nintendo.
Personally, I am curious to see if he'd appear in direct and if he'd have some fun with the whole "Bowser" thing.
So what do you guys think of this?

Yeah, going to work while you're tired is not something easy.
I hope your shift goes well and that it passed fast and you get some proper rest.

Right now I am think in how some of my friends are having it so tough and I want to be there for them and help them but I keep falling short for what they need.

I can only keep wishing for their well being and that they will keep in contact with me even if things have been a bit tense as of late.

Link's Awakening is an old game that has had a place in the hearts of many fans. It was released back in 1993. Some projects to remake it and bring it back had been made by the fans, but it seemed like it was one of those games that had long seen past their opportunity for Nintendo to look back. It was then a surprise that they ended the stream to show us a video of what seemed to be a stormy night at the sea and a small boat struggling among the giant waves. This is an animation re-imaging the original opening of Link's Awakening for the Gameboy.

Back in the day I always liked the design for Link they had in the Oracle games, so I enjoyed seeing it return for some of the recent Zelda games.
It is quite telling that even though the game looks very similar to the way they made A Link Between Worlds the release will take place for the switch. It's aimed to be released sometime this year.

The cartoon animation was marked as "Not Actual Gameplay", so I am not sure if this means it was done just for this Direct Presentation, like the fight Link and Pit had to annouce Lady Palutena for SSB4, or if this is a cinematic (non playable moment) and we will see more through the game.

So how do you guys feel about this?

Ah, I just figured that since February is both Link's Birthday (the release of the original The Legend of Zelda) and the month for love and friendship we could have some fun but giving Link a partner to spend a lovely evening in some fine dining and spectacular hotel with top view...

Anyway, you can take it seriously and nominate the classic choices like Zelda, Malon, etc
Or make just some unexpected matches and lets see who the community chooses.

You can nominate more than one romantic interest.

Planning in doing the voting on Monday, 11th right in this thread.
I'll keep updating it as you guys go.

As noted by the Daily Star, Nintendo of Japan recently posted a job advert recruiting a 3DCG designer to help with the terrain in The Legend of Zelda. The intriguing detail here that unlike past adverts, this time Nintendo is openly admitting it is to work in The Legend of Zelda.

    The original page: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/jobs/project/k….html#geo_zelda
And this is what visiting the page for the hiring advert displays when you use Google Translate:

It is kind of hard not to get the the wheels rolling in excitement with the idea of the development of the next big title, then again, it could just be for a remake or something on a smaller scale.

Either way, it sounds like good news for those of us hoping for more Zelda. What do you think?

I think I already said to you directly a lot of my thoughts through that DM conversation but just to leave it out in the open.

    1. I am quite impressed this is a one person project and that is going strong even after so many years, not only that but the resolve to finish it this year if possible. I've noticed that very few projects, no matter how strong they start, tend to last before finding a big obstacle or having the people involved just moving into something else.
No doubt though that what you are doing will help you for future projects. I am very excited to see it come to completion.

    2. That makes a lot of sense, being familiar with the software must have been a very good help. Nice that you find a way to put together two things you enjoy so much.

    3. Thank you for showing me the battle system. It is great that you were able to create bosses and real time combat for the game.

    4. / 5. That makes sense. I think that's a good location to avoid too many headaches regarding placement, haha.

    6. No worries, I figured as much but I never heard the term "concho" before so I thought it'd be better I asked.

From that video I find really interesting how you utilize stuff from different games, like Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time, and not just the portable or retro ones. That's really neat. Did you make a conscious decision to add a bit of the different Zelda games or is that just the sounds that made sense for you at the time?

    *rubs hands*

Oooh, I have some questions and comments to make. It is always a big pleasure seeing dedicated projects like this one to take place in the Zelda community.

I think I'll just bombard you the questions as they come to me.

    1. How many people are involved in the project?

    2. What made you decide to go for it and start working in a tribute fangame?

    3. Is this a turn base based RPG?

    4. Do you have in mind an specific Link from the other Zelda games or is this one a completely new Link?

    5. If you had to place your fangame in the official timeline, whereabouts would it take place?

    6. What do you mean Thaneri enjoys concho when mudering Hyruleans?

Also, we have a Spanish equivalent of the community at "http://www.comunidadzelda.com/"
Although I had to go to hiatus for a while I am still in contact with some of the members through a whatsapp group, so I definitely would let them know of your project and it would be easier if you could post it in Spanish for us. You'd have to make another account for it, but I am sure it would be something that some members there would love to hear about your project.

Also, hearing that you got 65-70% is pretty outstanding. I've seen many projects start but few got the dedication to pull it through. Sounds like this project has been going for over 5 years and that commitment is admirable. I amd efinitely looking forward to hear the updates as you progress with it.
