Aside from about 4 years where I was lower-lower middle class, I've been poor all my life. And my parents hated technology. Computers and video games were only very begrudgingly allowed into their home.
I suppose the early Final Fantasy games would rank high on my list. Banjo Kazooie would probably be up there as well.
FF7 is a terrible game. It's also one of my favorite games of all time.
Though I don't think I played it until IX was out.
Unfortunately, by the time I got around to playing IX for the first time, I think I'd past the point in my life where I could fall in love with Final Fantasy games. I only got about halfway through it before I gave up.
As a general rule, I think they're pretty mediocre games, from a mechanical perspective. They have amazing, interesting narratives. But narrative just doesn't draw me in the way it did when I was a youth.
Still, I should take another crack at IX.
Conkers is a dirty game.
Mine would be Spiderman Separation Anxiety on the SNES
X is the last FF game I enjoyed. Coincidentally, I think X has possibly the strongest mechanics in the series, and the weakest narrative.

Charly circus, the old school zeldas, the SNES console and great games like the Donkey Kong Countries, A Link to the Past, Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, castlevania... and many others, I am sure.

I think the right spelling is Charlie circus, sorry about the misspelling. It is a side scrolling game where you're a cute lil clown trying to pass obstacles to the other side of the tent while the audience watches you. The first level has you sitting on a lion and jumping through rings of fire. Music is an earworm if you play this game.
That is a really curious looking game. THe gameplay looks pretty basic really, but I'd be interested to try it. The horse level in particular looks fun.

Kingdom Hearts is a series I wish I played when it was in it's prime. I've played 1 and 2 but no one talks about them now.
I'll definitely agree with @LinkSkywalker that FFX had the best mechanics of any FF game. I think my favorite of the playstation era was probably IX, which was the only one I finished sort of in one chunk without breaking for other games and the like. I think the best story of an FF game in the playstation generation is probably XIII. FF6/3 is probably the greatest final fanasy of all time though and I think it may be the one I've spent the most time playing. Speaking of Square Enix, Chrono Cross for playstation was actually really really good, though I think there were only like 12 people in the universe who played it. Doesn't seem as common a purchase.
I'm not sure what games I'd be most upset to have missed. It actually might be a zelda game or two; it might be super mario 64 which revolutionized the whole world, it might be something else. I'm a bit spoiled in that the PC (plus emulators) has always been my most-used system, so this non-backward-compatability losing games thing hasn't been as much of an issue (except for the awesome DOS games its hard to make work on modern PCs)

I've been trying to get a copy of "ABUSE" that I can run reliably for awhile now. Old DOS games are so good, but some of the most difficult games to really get ahold of.
Old DOS games might be the ones that I regret missing out on the most.
Don't remember much of those, except that we had them in floppy disks at my school, if they're the ones I am thinking about.

One of my favorite games is a free indie game called Iji.
A few months ago when I told someone about it, they told me it sounded a lot like ABUSE. I played a little bit of ABUSE on a website that ran old DOS games through a browser, and it was really good. But I hate playing games through a browser, so I want to get it working on my own computer.
