On twitter someone I follow @Yami_sha posted a still from the announcement video where we can see a girl similar to Paya and she questions if that's Impa. It hadn't dawn on me then that we would be seeing her Young.
When you meet Impa in BotW the way she greets Link is like he must have spent some time together back in the day, so being able to finally see how they got long and what kind of moments they shared together sounds freaking sweet! Also, they say around that Paya took after Impa's looks, so it'll be fun to see if they are going to carry over some of the jokes that were with Paya as another wink.
Maybe I am getting to ahead of myself, since it is just a Hyrule Warriors game and probably they are not going to go too far with the story, but the potential is there.

Honestly I like seeing them highlighting pre-Ocarina of Time characters in general.
I remember they added Marin but then again, we also got Link's Awakening on the switch, so it is not as impactful now, I think. -
It is peculiar the way the pre-OOT games feel abandoned. Even back in the early 2000s I remember that 90% of Zelda stuff online was either for OOT, MM, or WW, with a little Oracle games here and there. And sure, those were the recent games at the time, so it's reasonable that they got the most attention.
But here we are 20 years later, and it feels like OOT, MM, and WW are still getting a lot of love, along with the mainline games that came after them (TP, SS, BoTW). I wanna see pink haired SNES link in Smash Bros, gosh dang it! -
I agree with you the portable Zeldas and Pre N64 don't really get much more than a mention for their contributions to the franchise and that's it.
I remember there was this website, I think called "Zelda in my pocket" back in the day, trying to specialise in the portable games.
... But not really websites going all out for the NES, SNES ones either.
I wanna see pink haired SNES link in Smash Bros, gosh dang it!
Yes! Please!

Well there were so many Zelda websites back in the day, my goodness. :O
