Yes, you read the title correctly. Twilight Princess is getting a remake for the Wii U. It was confirmed in today's Nintendo Direct.

I think I owe @ShiroMZM a soda.
We were having an argument in the Spanish side regarding this. I think this pretty much shut me up. :XD:
I hope they can show us some HD material sometime before the end of the year.

Oh, they already have in the video. Check the timestamps of 23:40-25:33
I thought that was the Wii Footage. Silly Me.
Well... that is a bit underwhelming considering this was partly the reason of the rumour:

But I guess it makes sense, the idea is to bring something easy to make so it is more of a port with enhanced graphics.
I am not sure how I feel about the Amiibo. Although that OST pre-order sounds soo sweet.
It's pretty cool that it's actually been announced, but it doesn't really look a whole lot different to the original version. I mean, Wind Waker HD had noticeable changes, despite having an art style that didn't even need them, and then the game which could do really well from a makeover gets... a couple of slightly improved textures?
That's kind of disappointing.

If you watched the video, you would hear it says more features have been added, but they are not going to reveal them at this moment.

I think CM30 is talking about the visuals, in which case I would agree with him. Even in the reveal trailer of WWHD you saw noticeable change in the graphics. No everybody loved them but they were there.
I was hoping more for a OoT to OoT 3D kind of transition. I mean, I wasn't expecting the hyper realism of the poster but somewhere in between that and the official art. seeing a few more polygons in Link's hair for example. No need for anything too drastic.
That said. I am curious to learn how will Amiibo affect the game, what 'fixes' they have considered, as WW fixes seemed spot on.
And even though at first glace seems like nothing much, I like the clothes textures and helmets details we can see in the HD version.
I hope they bring up a bit more color too. But maybe that is just me. :XD:
I mean with how pretty oot, mm and ww remakes where, finding out they're using the same old gamecube models is a turnoff.
Well, apparently it has wii remote and nunchuck support:

Sounds good.
I also find quite interesting that according to the source, the Amiibo is not just "read"but information will be written on it.
This is exciting! I'm hoping that the rumors are true because so many people are looking forward to this remake.

It's no longer a rumor, Nintendo confirmed it in their late November Nintendo Direct.
Eh... couldn't give a poop myself. I'm happy with the original. Speaking of original... some original games from Nintendo would be nice.

When was the Nintendo Direct? On what date?

November 12, 2015. It's in the first post.
The Nintendo Direct is also on the video I posted.
So it's rumoured that the Ganondorf amiibo will make the game harder.
Weird... they could've just added a harder mode, like the master quest in OoT.
EDIT: It's no longer a rumour, here are all the amiibo functions:
So yeah, refill your arrows with the Link amiibo and your hearts with the Zelda one.
So, are these Amiibo only usable once a day like the rumours, or whenever you want now?
And jesus, that extra damage effect is ridiculous. I mean, did he lose like five hearts in one hit there? How does that work? Didn't Twilight Princess originally have enemies do very little damage in general?
I'm dying is this for real lmao
amiibos should be illegal.
