I have own both. Back in mexico I bought from a neighbour his SNES.
Now that I moved to Australia and my friend and I are re-making our gaming collection we got a SNES and boy, is it a weird sensation holding the cartridges, seeing the console and feeling that it doesn't align with my memories, hahah.
I like the colourful buttons of the PAL controller.

I have two SNESes and they both have power issues. Thats why I had to get a new copy of ALTTP on my Advance
I have the european one only and it still work like the first day, but sadly i lost all my old games. I only have Ballon Fight now (only a game for NES).
I need to play ALttP again. I started a walkthrough for it and its still in progress. I get bored with typing and I end up playing the game instead of typing.
I have the NTSC-U version but would trade it for a PAL I just love the design, I don't know what makes the americas so special that they had to redesign the console for them. Even the cartridge looks better PAL version. Mine has power issues too, so does my friend's. Only ever played ALttP on Emulator or GBA would kill to try it on the original SNES
I don't think I can separate my nostalgia from my critical thinking on this one. The North American version is better in every way, to my eyes.
I actually have both of them, However I always enjoyed the PAL versions of systems more than I ever enjoyed the NTSC-U versions. Honestly, if you look at the consoles just as a whole, a child would probably pick the PAL version over the NTSC-U any day. "Pretty colors...."
Yeah, as an adult, I'd generally say a more colorful design is more interesting. Although, I think offsetting the grey with different shades of violet is an interesting choice.

Yep, both are interesting.. but personally I just love how PAL versions run, they don't over heat... Then again the NTSC versions of the SNES has the same inputs for the TV as the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo GameCube.
That is certainly a nice feature. Since I currently have roughly a billion consoles hooked up to my TV, the fact that I don't have to futz with the RCV cables every time I switch between SNES/N64/GC has been a godsend in the past.
