There's always more to tackle than we have the ability to tackle. Something something the human condition, lamentation.
I started watching Ally McBeal while I was drawing today, cuz I got it mixed up with Veronica Mars. It's dumb, but I'm enjoying it.

Frankenstein! Holy hell that was a great movie.
I didn't realize they were adapting the book so closely, and they did a great job of it. Every change was purposeful, and the way Del Toro tweaked the themes worked wonders.

My partner has been playing a lot of Animal Crossing lately, and I've got a Switch 2 hidden away to give her for Christmas. I'm real glad the update won't be something I need to figure out how to buy afterwords.

Oh lovely! Love some easy listening.
I just encountered this song today, and I love it

I tend to have a fairly high bar for what will prompt me to correct someone's grammar, even for something as glaring as there/their/they're confusion. I'd only do it if it'd be received as helpful information, or if it's a close friend who I get to be a bully towards.

I will say: I do think there's a lot of value in making a game that requires you to develop a set of tools, then making as many games as you can using those tools before the tools start to look dated. Some great games have been sequels developed in that way: fallout 2, New Vegas, Majora's Mask, etc.
Though I'm not sure that even really applies anymore for games like Call of Duty. Video game technology has basically stopped advancing.

Oh you'll have to tell us how Yakuza 0 director's cut is. I'm fond of that game.

It's nice to see Animal Crossing getting an update. That's the sorta game that would really benefit from more frequent attention.

The only real standard I care about is to be effectively understood. Grammar plays a flexible role in that. sometimes when im messaging with younger friends or being very casual i dont use caps or punctuation
if im bein a silly silly jokester or just super casual i might talk 2 u w ver abbrev language
My most natural writing style is what I tend to use here most often. I tend to over use commas and exclamation points, like a lot of people do. Also sometimes I unconsciously capitalize words when I have to think about how to spell them.

Regrettably I've never been good at matching my word choice to the situation, so even when I do modulate my grammar I tend to talk like a dweeb.
Actual hoity toity 'proper' English grammar is a chaotic mess that mostly isn't even real English grammar. English is an evolving language, changes happen all the time. Some people like to pretend they don't, but that's just so they can use grammar as a pedantic cudgel.
I think I care a lot more about grammar now than I used to, primarily because of the realization that it was just as flexible as every other part of the language.

I've got one of those cards in a box somewhere! Sent to me some 20 odd years ago by someone we used to know.

I only tend to pre-order if it's a favorite series of mine. So something like Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Yakuza/Like a Dragon.
Solid choices for favorite series btw.
What makes that worth doing for you? Is the merch/pre-order bonus enticing? It's not usually difficult to get a day 1 copy of a game like that, is it?

I don't know how much of a film industry Australia has, but are there any summertime Christmas movies?

The new Superman really was good. I'm always kinda surprised when one of these movies manages to overcome my superhero fatigue. James Gunn has been killing it.

I don't tend to worry about the quality of things like this. It'll probably be bad because:
- Very few projects have figured out how to make satisfying adaptations from video game to movie.
- Nintendo is a meddlesome rights holder with bad storytelling sensibilities
- The Mario movie was bland pablum
Of course who knows? It might surprise us. I never would have expected the Barbie movie to be as good as it was (which isn't to say it was flawless, but it was at least consistently interesting.) Maybe some artists with vision will figure out how to do something great with it. The real stumbling block to that is probably Nintendo themselves.
Konami had some recent success with the Castlevania series, so it's at least conceivable that they have an idea of how to get the right people to adapt Metal Gear.
If either or both of these are bad, it doesn't really affect me. I will live in a world without a good Zelda/Metal Gear movie, which is the same world I've been living in all my life. The good games will still be good games.
