Your Favourite SNES games

All aboard the nostalgia train!
What are some of the SNES titles you enjoyed and still consider of your favourite games?

In all honestly I skipped the console at its prime. I didn't even know it existed. I jumped from the NES to the N64 (my mind was amazed with such a big gap) but even so there are classic titles from the SNES that are in my bucket list. I only acquired a SNES years after the GC was out.

The SNES brought some strong pillars and I consider it a must try console for people interested in retrogaming. Some games became such classic that people know them even if they have never played them.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country are just some of the titles that come into mind. That said, maybe you had another game that was special to you, an underrated gem buried under the praise to the now classics; or perhaps it simply was special to you, damned what other people thought of it.

Super Mario RPG is VERY overrated, in my opinion. I think it sucks, I'm sorry. Anyways, I have never owned a SNES before, but I would really like one. Surprisingly, I have a Sega Genesis. I think you guys in Australia call it the Mega Drive or something like that. I have played some SNES games on an emulator though. (Shhh.) I've gotta say my favorite game on the SNES would probably be Kirby Super Star. I haven't really played much SNES, so I don't have many choices to choose from.

I need more games for my Mega Drive.

As far as the SNES goes, for some reason we skipped it as a kid. Went straight from the NES to the N64. We didn't even know the SNES existed until we saw one at our cousin's, but it didn't occur to us that it was the "new Nintendo" for some reason.

Anyway, I have one now and a few games. My favourite so far would have to be Yoshi's Island.

Man I want Secret of Mana so bad. I have the US version, but obviously it won't play on my EU SNES.

I loved Contra 3. Chrono Trigger is obviously one of the best games of all time, and I thoroughly enjoy Final Fantasies 4 and 6. (I never really connected with 5 for some reason, even though there is a lot to like about it.)

Super Star Wars and Super Return of the Jedi were both pretty good. Super Empire Strikes Back sucked.

Definitely Final Fantasy VI. A wealth of gameplay and story, amazing music. I remember getting so emotionally involved as a kid, especially Celes' theme with its strong yearning and lament, and the melancholy determination of the overworld themes.

In second place is Donkey Kong Country 2. A much more light-hearted game, but its music is also very rich with wonder and melancholy. The gameplay is wonderful, with great replay value, and the graphics still look great.

Super Mario World was also great fun, and I've played it and cleared it all several times.

The other good ones, I never played on the SNES itself.

Did you play the other Donkey Kong Country games, or was DK2 just your favorite of the three?

Also, just how young were you when you played FF6?

I had a SNES and I loved it :D my favourite game on that console would have had to have been either Super Mario World or Yoshi's Island spent hours upon hours of time on those games when I was younger!

It's definitely my favorite, ahead of DKC and DKC3 (and DKC Returns). It's got the best music and the best gameplay imo, and it's the most fun to clear to 100%.

I must have been 7 or 8 when I played FFVI. Not sure if I understood all the English in the game yet, but my two older brothers told me how to play it anyway. Somehow I cannot remember not understanding the story, though. Maybe I had a magical moment like in Pocahontas, and suddenly understood English.

I'm strongly tempted to go into sass mode, because it would be hard for me to think of a game that I enjoyed less than MQ. But honestly, I really want to know: what about Mystic Quest did you enjoy? Help me to understand.

The game had redeeming elements, but overall I thought it was just dreadful.

I fairly enjoyed Earthbound growing up with it. But StarFox and Super Mario World were also amazing titles.

Ahh memories from past the game I enjoyed the most was Street Fighter I don't remember which version .. I played it with my cousins and sister it was so fun

One of teh reasons I wanted to play this game is purely the Link cameo. Other than that I don't know much, but it is definitely the first time I've heard someone with the opinion that it sucks.
