Sounds fun to be honest.

I don't understand how this thing will work out, but it looks amazing and I REALLY want it NOW. (That post makes me seem like a spoiled 10 year old girl....)

Honestly this is another attempt from Nintendo to tell American's they're fat, however, I'll still be getting myself one. I need to get out of class and catch me a Pokémon any day.

Well, I'm not playing this game any more. Well, at least not much.

Why? Because around here, there simply isn't enough variety to make it worth it. You get maybe three or four species of Pokemon on a regular basis, with a bunch of others appearing once in a blue moon if you're lucky. So instead of hoping for my luck to magically improve, or those eggs from the odd Pokestop to give a decent Pokemon or two, I mostly stopped playing.

But in response to those questions:

Starter: Charmander (always pick fire types in any Pokemon game)
Team Mystic
Not sure, though likely around 40 or so based on the lack of variety
Favourite: Guess Vaporeon at the moment. Not much that's too rare appears around here (a Dragonite or Snorlax would be awesome).

Charmander, Valor and about 88.

Still I'm lagging behind everyone else. The game seems very much a one-off where you had to be there from the start. I am getting to the point where I can actually beat a gym once in a while, but it's very rare to see one with weaker pokémon than mine.

Too much now is investment, through grinding without a sensible reward in the end. Don't evolve this now, don't use the candies there, you'll catch s better one, wait until you're.. which level? It doesn't really end.

It's fun though. I'm actually considering getting the Plus thingy, if anything just go support the game. Also waiting to see if they'll ever release more pokémon or new games.

Going to parks is amusing, because everyone is playing the game and I feel like I'm talking part in that ridiculous but fun craze while it lasts.
