If you had to choose one single NES game as your least favorite, which one would it be? I mean, you could make a top 3 least favorite ones if you wanted too... Also, tell us what you didn't like about them...

Something about Excitebike has always bummed me out. It's a pretty good game, but I dunno. Maybe it's the gross color palette, or the shitty sound design. Something.
I once had a copy of Gyromite, but I never had a R.O.B. That shit annoyed the fuck outta me.

I am having such a hard time to recall, I've been trying for a while and the explanation I came up with is tahta s a kid I loved everything. It was new and I was not an expert in games quality. Many bad games probably amused me back in the day.

I do recall that as a kid I usually assumed my frustration was because I didn't understand the game well enough or because I was bad at the game. Not because the game was bad.

Yeah, exactly. I am not doing something right. I must find what it is. Or if I know what it is keep trying to stop coming short.
This thread just make me think of AVGN, it would be just as easy to link to his videos and call it a day but I think it is more inetyresting we discuss what games we didn't like and why. What is bad with em is that Atari and NES games blend a bit together and even putting aside what i said about me liking even bad games, there are many I tried and forgot about them by now.
In general sport ones, specially baseball, and movie adaptations tended to be bad games.

Looking back, I think the NES probably had more bad games than good ones. Or, at the very least, the majority of NES games have aged so poorly that I would no longer recommend playing them. Particularly given the Indie asplosion of recent years.
Which isn't to say the NES doesn't have a solid library. It has a phenomenal library! A lot of people were trying some really interesting things. There were some amazing innovations, and as a general rule the developers put more faith in the abilities of the player back then. I like that.
Buuuuuuuut there was also a lot of bad ideas. Shitty innovations. Laziness. And a general lack of understanding of how to make the medium of video games really work outside of an arcade.

Whose fault do you think it was for all this?

I don't think there is just one direct target to blame. The Videogame were in transition. Experimentation was necessary and as bad the bad games were they helped to realise what things sounded good in theory but were awful in execution and what things in general were just hindering the experience. When the NES came out, the idea of having a home console was still new and in many places arcade houses were still popular and active. For the ones based in movies, a lot had to do with people not taking videogames seriously enough. It was just another excuse to advertise their stuff. Not enough time to polish a game and come up with something decent when the developers have a deadline that cannot be push to a later date. Many had to just shrug and finish what they could.
For the sport game, it is really had to turn a complex sport into a game simple to understand visually and in controls, that kept enough familiarity with the real thing and that was fun to play.

As a kid I remember really liking the Roger Rabbit game. But looking back, I don't think I ever made a single bit of progress while playing it. It was just fun to drive around, really.

From the games I remember and I can recall probably Dragon Warrior was the less liked.I did liked it but it was my least favourite. I died so many times.
I was too litle and knew no enought english. Instead of just pressing action button and be done with it you needed to select from a list what action to exert on the object.
