Today I had a bit of an FML period. There's a store that sells 2nd hand games, movies, music, comics, manga, vinyl, and so on. It's just a few miles (ie 3-4km) away from my house by route of major freeways. I took my bike there today as I usually do and on the ride there all is well and I make it to the store without issue. As I get off my bike though I hear a hissing sound and have a bit of an "oh sh!t" moment like "pleeeeease let this not be what I think it is." Unfortunately it was there had been like an enormous splinter of wood that managed its way into my tire. I left it in in hopes that the splinter staying there could slow the leakage of the air and went into the store since I went through the trouble and made it there seemingly without issue.
I usually go to the PS / PS2 section since those are the cheap games that I can afford that and the movie section has some good deals as well as the music. I scan through the PS2 shelf swiftly and frantically desperate to do something with the $4.00 USD that I had on me. I spot a Ratchet and Clank game, "Ratchet: Deadlock" which was in my price range and I recalled the multiplayer on the game being absolutely fantastic. I have no recollection of the campaign mode though especially since I hadn't ever owned or borrowed it. I picked it out and set it to the side on the shelf so I could remember where it was and went to the CD section to see if they had anything of particular interest which they had the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack that I couldn't afford. Anyway after 10 minutes of digging through the CD's to no avail I go back and the Ratchet and Clank game is still there so I grab it and buy it.
I walk out the door and look at my bike and the tired looked like it had melted. This isn't the first time this has happened to me either which is the really sucky part. Just outside the door they have a "Free bin" which is just a few bins that the fill with stuff they bought but couldn't sell or that people just didn't want and I picked up some book that looked like it was part of the D&D series. Didn't have a cover though, I was just doing everything I could to avoid the inevitable. I pull my grocery bag out of my pocket and put the game and the book in and go to get on the bike to at the least make an effort to ride it but it just made things worse. So I rode it out the parking lot to the freeway. I then got off of it and started walking it this is the first time this has happened to me in this side of town though. When we lived downtown I had this happen to me in a much more shady kind of place where this didn't look so weird but I was like a guy in a kayak in the ocean with a bunch of sailboats and my paddle broke and now I have to use a ladle.
A police officer even pulled over and asked me if I was getting on interstate because I was nearing the exit which was an awkward and rather embarrassing encounter to say the least not to mention it's 95°F (35°C) and humid as all get out so I then had to walk over some major freeway exits and down a long service road before I got to my neighborhood by the time I get there I'm exhausted and drenched in sweat but just a half a dozen blocks from home. Nearing 3 blocks to the house there's this little sweet sweet old lady that was just cruising along in her 3 wheel bike that a basket and she looked at me and just said, "Awe, sorry." And I wasn't even sure how I should have replied to something like that so I just smiled and kept on and said, "Ueh, tch yeah"
Needless to say embarrassing but now that I think of it kind of comical. Not to mention all was made well when I came home to my three irresponsible siblings that I was responsible for at the time and who were supposed to clean and do chores, actually did them this time. And there was cookies so all was well
I still haven't tried the Ratchet and Clank game yet but if it works I'll say that that day was a win just for the game the cookies and the story to tell XD. Anything interesting happen to you guys lately? Or maybe something uninteresting that you can still write for us/me to read ?
