Well, if you get a successful game franchise that makes you popular, wouldn't you seperate to possibly make more cash if you release even better games on other systems?
So, in other words, it isn't real suprising.

This move was honestly not surprising, seeing as now they have a chance to suddenly earn even more money. Who doesn't like it?

Well... I don't play Halo, nor is there anything of my interest in the Microsoft-game-genre, so this news doesn't interest me so much. I've seen it just about everywhere I go, though. Eesh.
