I'm getting into these more and more.

Lately I've been playing Rayman Origins and can't wait to try Legends. Also DK: Tropical Freeze was amazing.

Obviously Mario Bros (as a series in general) is up there, plus Yoshi's Woolly World surprised me with it's challenging and unique level design.

About to play some Yoshi's Island on the SNES.

So what's your favourite? Your least? What are some of the good and bad ones?

Let's just talk 2D platformers for a while.

Yeah, Shovel Knight is pretty much the tops in this genre.

I enjoyed Gunman Clive, though it's very short. Volgarr The Viking probably counts, but it is hard as balls. As in I played for 7 hours and haven't beaten level 2 yet.

I haven't played this shovel knight I keep hearing about. tbh I was never much of a mario fan, either, and in general a lot of platformers leave me cold. NOT my favorite genre. They all seem too easy or too punishing and I just can't...bring myself...to keep...playing...

Thinking about it, the only platformers i like are 3d...and I'm not even sure if they're really platformers...

    Huh.

It honestly never occurred to me that someone wouldn't like Platformers.

Shovel Knight may not be for you...weird.

I never used to be a huge platformer fan, except 3D platformers.

Playing DK: Tropical Freeze changed that, all the secrets. I think that's what I like most about good 2D platformers - the secrets.

I just recalled another underrated gem I have come accross. It is called "Mutant Mudds".
I haven't finished it because I am not of finishing platformers in one seat... and because of the spike in difficult as you progress through the game.
You can buy it in steam for 9 bucks or through the eShop. There's even a demo version available for the 3DS. I actually recommend that demo as it was the one taht convinced me to get the full game. I think it is enjoyable.

Wario Land 4 without a doubt. Every level is unique and really well designed. The graphics and music are great (especially for the GBA) and are different for every level and area of the game. And you've got levels based on creative, original ideas (like an old hotel and village, a pinball machine, a board game and a notebook of drawings) instead of the typical grass/water/fire themes.

Awesome. We're reaching some classic 2D platformer suggestions.

I also used to like a lot the chip and Dale NES game but I am not sure how much of a good or a bad platform game it is.

That's awesome! I am not alone!
It is great. Even just watching when it is a 2 player mode, specially when they know what they're doing. You are just watching hyperactive chipmunks.
The following video is not that. :P

I remember we loved just to be carrying and throwing each other up. I ended up being carried by other players when they felt I was too slow.
